Aranyhíd Étterem Pub — Restaurant in Budapest

Nice, cosy pub atmosphere, pub food (nothing special). Had two bad experiences here. First time, my boyfriend and I were told they were expecting a group of 50 in 10 mins, so we couldn't have a table. We decided to wait and have a drink. Kept asking if we could order food, told 'no', but an unbelievable 45 mins passed and no group showed (could easily have eaten a pizza in that time) and we left hungry. Stupidly, we went back a couple of weeks later, my boyfriend had to haggle for a table even though there were plenty free, with no reserved signs. One nice waitress, but mostly rude staff who do not want to serve. One waiter told us we were impatient for not waiting '3 mins' (it was more like 10) after we requested a serving of ketchup that they charged us 200ft for. If you do go here, don't bother with ordering food, it seemed like it was a massive hassle...

On a school trip, group of 24 people, excluding teachers, ordered 16 pizzas to the ‘Novotel’ hotel and the pizzas were always delayed saying 5 minutes, 5 minutes, 5 minutes, etc. after a while and even visiting the place in person, they said the pizza oven was broken. What a horrible service. We had to go to a new place to get pizza and it took us well over 1 and a half hours to get here. Whilst the food was fine, nothing special, the time it took was ridiculous, I am never coming back or ordering again from that place. I think I can speak for all of us, by saying that it was absolutely disgusting behaviour. Lying, and basically scamming us by saying 5 minutes more every time we called. Worst service experienced in Hungary so far, and I have lived here for over 14 years now. Well done. You have ‘made my day’. Your restaurant...

Average in terms of quality, location, service

Portions are great but the taste is average, prices are good given what you get

Menu in English is available and they have a huge TV, you could probably watch a football match here

The main disadvantage is the location right on the corner of a busy street

Overall, it's the type of place where you come hungry and leave full

LE after coming here many many times because of proximity, I suggest you don't order any of the beef dishes, they are way below average. The bean soup is great though (had it every time) and they make some good tasting pizza
