I was in Budapest for a very short stay and needed an inexpensive place to sleep which was comfortable and clean. I don't speak Hungarian, well, two words…(which I need to remind myself of just before a potential encounter…) so I was also looking for somewhere I could communicate in English.
The Jagillo was perfect really. The reception staff were friendly and professional, talking in fluent English and enabling me to pay the very reasonable room rate in HUF or Euro. They do not offer dinner or lunch in the hotel, but pointed me to a nearby shopping centre which boasts a wide range of good value, quality dining options from Italian to Japanese.
The room was clean and larger than I had imagined. There was plenty of light, everything seemed in very good condition and the bathroom was great: no cracked tiles or mouldy walls. I had a flat screen TV with international news channels (although not much else in English) but there were French, and Italian language channels as well as an international music channel.
The beds (I had two single beds) were small but perfectly comfortable. I slept very well, although I did have two pillows, one of with would be very soft for some people.
Breakfast was free. I didn't eat much and was disappointed that there was only pineapple juice (I hate the stuff) but I didn't ask for orange juice, which they might well have been able to provide. There was a spread of breads, serials (including chocolatey stuff) and yoghurts as well as something hot, (but I didn't look to see what). It was hardly inspiring but perfectly acceptable and my coffee was better than I have come to expect from most places.
I used the hotel safe at reception, (was given a key to a box inside the safe) which was fine. (I don't like taking my passport and credit cards out and about in cities that I don't know, although I saw no reason to fear a mugging in Budapest). I left my bags at reception on the day I left and they offered to order me a cab for my return to the airport.
So all and all an excellent stay. Nothing to criticise. Will be staying again next time I...
Read moreI am very disappointed about this hotel. Although it has a good location, in Buda, near to the congress center from Budapest, near to the Mom Park, the hotel is very dirty. It looks like that there was no restaurations since decades. It is not a cheapest hotel, and we booked this hotel because it was near to the congress center, but in 5 days, the cleaning lady came into our room when we put the cleaning sign on the door( one day in 5 days) although there is written down that every day between 10-14 they are cleaning.the room cleaning means that she changed the towels, only this, nothing else. We booked the rooms with breakfast. The breakfast was pretty good for a 3 star hotel, but there is one lady in the kitchen, she served the clients in pijamas or something like that, you had to wait a lot to clean the tables, or to bring something. Everybody from the hotel was nervous not only us. I will upload some photos about the carpet from the hotel. Ok, there was coffee on the flour, but in the XXI century you have a lot of possibilities to clean it. |Not worth...
Read moreVery pleasant and relaxing stay overall. I chose the hotel for its proximity to the Congress Centre, but also its classic architecture and scenery. And I do not regret it, on the contrary. Felt like in the previous century, without skyscrapers. Rooms are small but clean, beds are very comfy. Bathroom is OK and well equipped. Rooms may offer a view to the garden (pictures attached). Pretty clean overall. By foot, you can reach the Congress Centre (during a walk in an extremely nice park) in 7 minutes on high heels :)…therefore, easily made in 5 minutes with ordinary shoes. Very quiet area. The bus stop is very close and you may arrive rapidly to the city centre. Staff OK, not very friendly and not very attentive, but …the area is too nice to complain about that. I found the breakfast very basic, not healthy and expensive (8 EUR). Nevertheless, in the vicinity (about 700 m) there is a SPAR supermarket, where you can find good food and beverages, pretty cheap. Rooms provide a fridge…therefore, here you go! I would...
