There were cockroaches! The first night we saw one, which was disgusting but we thought that it could be a one-off. However, every night we returned to find there were more and more in every room, including in the kitchen sink and one hiding under my suitcase. I wrote a message to inform the apartment organizer and I never received a response. This was anxiety-provoking, disrupted sleep, and made the apartment seem really unclean. It also smelt strongly of old cigarettes.
The bed was simultaneously hard as a rock whilst managing to have a large sag on one side. Woke up each day very stiff. The pillows were just bags of cotton balls and for some unknown reason, we were provided with two single duvets instead of one double duvet for the bed. The shower water would flood out and soak the floor and there was no mop. There was also no way to dry clothes, such as with a clothes horse, if they needed washing in the washing machine. Half a toilet roll was provided for two people for a five-night stay.
Good location for the flat that was well connected to the rest of the city. The flat was in a quiet residential block.
It was cheap but not cheap enough to have a cockroach infestation (would not have booked if I had seen reviews on google as the reviews on booking.com were good and did not mention cockroaches as there are 3 separate apartments shown in...
Read moreWhen we arrived, the doorman wasn't previously announced of our reservation and had difficulty reaching the owners. When at last we got the apartment, it wasn t the one in the pictures (it had no balcony, no outdoor furniture, it was really small compared the one in the pictures, the floor was old and broken, the coffee table was broken, the overall cleanliness was bad, the kitchen was sticky, the bathroom door had a broken doorknob, there was a leaky shower, no toilet paper and toiletries, and overall the room had a sewage smell, we saw no cockroaches inside, but there were a lot throughout the building). I understand this is a recurrent issue. I tried to contact the owners, but didn t get any answer and, finally, when I got a different phone number, the person who answered was rude and, after hearing my complaints, he just hung up. We chose to remain in the appartement overnight because it was already paid by card and we had only one night in Budapest with no time to struggle finding another room. If we had a longer reservation, I would have definitely ask for booking customer support... This was definitely the worst room ever, we would never return here and we would have wanted a compensation. This room isn t worth the money at all. We regret a lot not looking at the reviews, this was the biggest...
Read moreWe arrived at 11 PM for just one night, expecting to take a shower, get some rest, and charge our phones before an early trip. Instead, here’s what happened: • Getting to the apartment was difficult: the entrance is actually via a balcony, which no one mentioned in advance. We spent 5–10 minutes searching for the right door in the dark. • Inside — no electricity. Nothing worked: lights, fridge, kettle, chargers. • The security guard (who didn’t speak English) explained through a translator that the electricity had been cut off due to non-payment, and only the owner could restore it; he wasn’t allowed to help. • We made more than five calls to the owner — no answer at all. • The room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. • The next day, the owner claimed that “the power was restored within an hour,” which is untrue — we have video proof from the morning showing there was still no electricity.
Bottom line: We paid but didn’t get even the basics — no electricity, no way to shower, cook, or charge our phones. Worst of all, there was a complete lack of communication and responsibility from the owner.
Not recommended — not even for one night. Think twice...
