The hotel itself is gorgeous- it was beyond my expectations. The lobby/restaurant is beautiful, and so are the rooms. The hotel seemed to be exceptionally clean, and house keeping was great. We only ate once in the restaurant, for lunch, and it was great- not a huge menu but the food was awesome. It was extremely hot in Budapest, and we were happy to see our room had AC.
Location seems to be in a rougher area of pest but I didn't feel unsafe walking the empty streets at night- there were lots of other tourists as well. We ended up renting scooters to go into the center of pest because its about a half hour walk each way.
There was one situation that ruined the experience for us though. On our third and final night, I had come down with something. I was feverish, and the AC was more of a fan than AC. There was 3 levels, every time we set it to 3, it would auto back to 0. My boyfriend called the front desk requesting aid with the AC because I was burning up, he had open the windows in the mean time to get some airflow and it wasn't so hot at 2am. The maintenance man came up and immediately began yelling at my boyfriend. All we did was kindly ask for help, and he came into the room hot. He was yelling and swearing in Hungarian, the only thing he yelled in English was that the AC doesn't work with the window open. We are not idiots- we are well aware that AC works better without the window open but the "AC" wasn't turning on at all.. After this, he slammed the door and left. Naturally, my boyfriend went to complain to the front desk and the maintainer was down there with a panicked look on his face, tried to switch the story up, and tried to shake my boyfriends hand. I can only assume he did this to avoid getting in trouble at work and did not expect we would complain. The only thing we got from the front desk was that "it must've been a language barrier sorry". There was no conservation happening prior to him yelling at my boyfriend. The whole situation was disheartening as we did not pay hundreds of dollars to be abused by staff and have other staff members make up excuses for it. I used to work in the hotel industry and I can say a backhanded "sorry" was not a sufficient enough for...
Read moreHey, hey! So, I just had the craziest experience staying at this hotel, and let me tell you, it was something else! From the moment I stumbled through those doors (tripping over my own two feet, mind you), I was greeted by the most fabulous receptionist, Miss Nikolett. Seriously, she deserves a standing ovation for handling my clumsiness with the grace of a ballerina on ice! She made me feel like a true superstar.
Now, let's talk about the hotel itself. You know that feeling when you step into a room and it instantly feels like a warm, fuzzy hug? Well, that's exactly what I got here. The room was cozy, comfortable, and like a little sanctuary from the chaos of the outside world. I even had a mini dance party in there, and the walls kept my terrible dance moves a secret.
But wait, it gets better! The hotel staff were like superheroes, swooping in to save the day whenever I needed something. From the amazing housekeeping team who magically made my room sparkle each day (seriously, I'm convinced they have secret powers) to the restaurant staff who whipped up the most mouthwatering dishes, I felt like I was in a parallel universe where every wish was granted.
And can we talk about the location? It was smack dab in the middle of everything cool and happening. I may have accidentally wandered into a secret underground party (oops!), but hey, that's the kind of adventure this hotel brought into my life.
So, even though I may have been joking about being held at gunpoint to write this review (seriously, please don't send help), I genuinely had an absolute blast during my stay. A big shoutout to Miss Nikolett for being a superstar receptionist. If you're looking for an unforgettable, laughter-filled stay, check out this hotel—you...
Read moreI stayed at the InterCity Hotel in Budapest from 4th through 8th May, 2024, for 4 nights. |Just before my flight from London, U.K. I had fallen down so after checking in my room as I removed my shoes I noticed that my right foot was quite swollen. That being a Saturday afternoon and next day being Sunday, I stayed in my room and hotel as I did not venture out with a swollen foot. Monday morning I went down to the front desk and asked to see the duty manager. I described my situation to the duty manager, Mr. Laszlo and asked if he can recommend a doctor for me. Fortunately, he spoke fluent English. So the duty manager called their house doctor and repeated what I described. That doctor being a family physician, he said he can not help and I need an orthopedic doctor, but did not recommend anyI So duty manager did some research and found an orthopedic doctor and made an appointment for me for the same afternoon. The duty manager must have spend a good deal of about 30 minutes trying to find me a doctor. ||The orthopedic doctor ahd his clinic were state of the art. After x-rays and examining my foot I was told I have a hairline fracture and I should stay off my feet as much as possible so I had to cut my trip short and get back hoem to Dallas, Texas.||I want to commend the duty manager for taking care of their customer with enthusiasm abd without feeling that he was being burdened. He is a credit and an assett to the InterCity Hotel Group.||My stay overall was excellent. The entire hotel staff such as receptionists, the restaurant staff, bartenders, etc. were very nice and helpful. ||Fortunately, I had a room overlooking the Budapest train station so I spent time looking out the window, watching traffic and people, with my...
