Acceptable hotel with clean room and nice bathroom, without shower curtain. Moderately noisy thanks to the bar next to the hotel. It's the staff that makes it terrible.||||||1. Recepcionist have no clue of any details regarding the restaurant. Also have no knowledge of the city at all. When we asked for a hairdresser nearby, he panicked, and acted like if it were an unreasonable question. He miserably announced that now he would have to look it up on the net. We have relieved him of the unpleasant duty of helping the guests out.||||2. We were on an event with an organized lunch. We went in at 12:45, and asked when the lunch starts. The waiter told that it "theoretically" starts at 13:30, but if we wish, we can sit down at the tables right now. It turned out that he meant it literally: he thought we will be honored that we can sit there for 45 minutes.||||3. When we came back, the waiter asked for our name to check wether we are on the list for the pr-ordered menu. Then he left without saying a word. He came back with another gentleman, who informed us that our name is not on the list (this paticular thing may have been the organizers fault, although others have similar issues, so to us it seemed that they used a wrong version of the list). When we told that we would rather leave, he played dumb and tried to insult us with making remark that we may not have the financial ability to pay for an a la carte lunch.||||4. At night we had a fire alarm. We went outside the building. The night staff were erratically running around the building, no one informed us what's going on. The the alarm stopped. Contrary to the elementary rules of the fire alarm, no one came to let us in. Then we let us in themselves. When we complained in the morning, the day receptionist tried to reassure us that under normal circumstances, they just switch off the fire alarm in a second. Very reassuring.||||5. When we left, the receptionist were a total mess: he was trying to force on nonexistent minimar charges on guests, he was on the verge of a nervous breakdown because one guest was paying with a SZÉP card. He informed everybody on the top of his voice that this will be a very long and complicated bill so we should prepare for a very long wait (a routine exercise for most of the hotels). When we went back 30 minutes later, he non-stop complained to us, were very rude by assuming we may not have enough money on our card, etc. When I informed him that after years of being a SZÉP card user, he complained more to me than everybody else altogether, he insisted that he is right and he is not there to help out the guests.||||||A few minor things:||||1. Although we were the two of us, we have received on key only. Pretty peculiar, since the key must be in the room if you want to have electricity and we were not Siamese twins.||||2. The hotel has iron available only in the morning. (I wanted to iron my shirt -- a pretty standard business anywhere else.)||||3. Although the room was non-smoking, windows opened to a garden where smoking was permitted (or tolerated).||||4. Wellness section was closed most of the time.||||||Overall, a terrible experience, I have never, ever been such a bad place, including my ultra-budget...
Read moreAs I attended a wedding in the restaurant of this hotel, I decided to stay because it was very convenient. This review only reflects my experience with the hotel, and not the restaurant, which is much, much better.|Anyway. As a guest at the wedding, we received a discounted price which was equivalent of about ~£40.|I left the booking for the last minute, but the receptionist was very helpful so a room was provided. As we were leaving quite early next morning, I requested a quiet room. However, upon check in, turned out that the room had 2 single beds instead of a double bed. Again, receptionist resolved the problem in no time, and a room with double bed was provided.|So I can’t complain about the staff. But that’s the end of the positive experience and the hotel is far-far away from 4! Not even a 3! I would suggest for the management to have a look at other 3* & 4* hotels around Europe and be more realistic. Despite the hotel going through a refurbishment about 8 years ago, the interior of the room looks and feels very dated. You can judge it yourself from the pictures. Bathroom is worn down badly and walls are dirty. Can’t close or lock the toilette door. Shower head is also worn out so badly, that when you try to take a shower, the water is going everywhere from the nozzles. Yep, all over the place did the damage caused by lime scale. |Bed is not exactly on the comfortable side neither, but in general no issue with the cleanliness of the place, it’s just worn down.|After check in I also would’ve like to try the wellness facilities of the hotel, but jacuzzi was out of order. The breakfast wasn’t too bad, but I would recommend to stick with tea or water and go drink a coffee somewhere else. |Now to be fair, all of this I wouldn’t mind if the hotel wouldn’t consider itself as a 4* facility, and wouldn’t ruin the reputation of the name it’s using as the original Három Gúnár used to have a very respected reputation. On the other hand, the venue in the restaurant was excellent, food was very high quality and staff was friendly. But that’s a...
Read moreI'll spend last 30 days in this hotel. So let's start First positive things: Hotel is located in center of town ✅ Breakfast is almost the same every day, but is good and tasty ✅ Room (i speak for my room where i stayed) is comfortable and have enough space ✅ Reception is professional and kind ✅ Let's talk now about negative and bad things: When i entered in my room i spotted 5-6 spiders and lot spider webs almost in every corner. Farm of spiders. Completely disappointed about that ❌ Second thing, my bed is terrible. With hole in center. Back pain almost every day because of that. Terrible ❌ Another bad thing, for 30 days, lady who cleans rooms, didn't used dust cleaner. Are you real? Shame for hotel because of that ❌ Toalet isn't cleaned for 30 days! ❌ After all, this hotel don't deserve 4 stars. Maybe 2 or eventually 3 stars. And that is real. Pretty despondent...
