I had a reservation to this Hotel, through Booking.com, for August, that had been cancelled today.|I called them and got the information, this has been an automatic process and my credit card is a debit card, that was the reason of the cancellation. This did not make any sense, as I use this card on many occasions, also plenty of online payment, with no problems. |I also have been informed, that they are full, so cannot book a new room, but they can book me a room in another hotel, more than double the price. I did not take that option.|Than, I called Booking, as the whole thing was strange, where they told me the hotel cancelled the reservation, not them and they cannot do much.|Sent a mail to the hotel, with above information... and got an answer back, that due to some internal issues, they had to cancel my reservation and the newly changed staff does not know yet, how to handle these situations!!??|Also, the first apology can be read only in this mail.|Free cancellation seems to be an option for the hotel too than the need to lie about the reason is also part of the deal!|If you do not want to be disappointed, do not bother!||Ohh... and the best part on every website: booking, agoda, hotel.com, there are free available rooms for my dates...||The best marketing technic, this place has,...
Read moreRoom was rather old but well preserved, it had spirit. Modern bathroom. Beakfast was acceptable or even good, a bit of everything, with good qualities except the scrambled eggs which usually were pretty overdone. Excellent hungarian salami, ham, ... Sometimes some products were exhausted and never replaced.
The room was not made up everyday, in fact it was not made none of the 4 nights we slept there ,so I guess it was not cleaned either. We left no "dont disturb" sign outside, and we were mostly out.
The concierges were mostly nice but seemed amateur and could not help much in some matters, for example one didnt know how the cleaning of the rooms worked and another one told us that that was a matter of the external cleaning firm (so, not his/her issue ¡!).
Last of the 4 nights we were awaken, like all the guests, by the roar of the fire alarm about 5 or 5.30 a.m.. It seems the concierge, who also made some cooking for the breafast, went to the courtyard for a smoke or/and a phone call and something caught fire.
Excellent situation, but we had already counted on it when reserving, the rest very improvable, especially the guest treatment, not the hotel building itself or...
Read moreA baroque, artsy hotel located in the very heart of Szeged. The whole hotel is made to give off that singular feel of the 19th century, central European nobility, and it pulls it off spectacularly. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, but there are downsides. The whole hotel has this odd smell (neither an aroma, nor an odour) of old wood and/or incense. Some people might heavily dislike that, some people might be neutral about it (I, for example), and some people might even enjoy it. However, you cannot open the windows to let in some fresh air, which nobody is going to appreciate, honestly. The service is alright, nothing to write home about, although I do have to commend their breakfast repertoire, truly delicious for a small hotel. The location, however, is crème de la crème. Literally in the centre of the city, it's less than five minutes away from the main square, and every notable place in Szeged is within walking distance from here. One major downside for people with cars is that the hotel lacks any parking...
