We have thoroughly enjoyed our few days’ stay in Novotel. The staff is very courteous and polite and have a feeling that they “give you space”to enjoy your holiday, but there for you if you need their assistance, advice or service. We found the offer very reasonable (stayed at the end of August). They didn’t require a deposit at the time of booking, which was a positive experience surprise and upon arrival we were offered the option to only pay 50% and the rest upon checking out. We arrived around 12.30pm, but our room was already available. We found it in a clean and tidy condition with complimentary shower gel, shampoo and soap which all are fair tase and smell amazing. The room itself is not a luxury, but it has enough space for your clothes and other belongings, has plenty of natural light, air condition, a tv, a big desk with two chairs, etc. It has a balcony. I would have loved having a little table and couple of chairs out there too for some relaxation if I stayed longer, but that’s not a deal breaker. There is a bar downstairs where you can buy drinks, amazing selection of cocktails and there is a pool table for you to enjoy free of charge. There is a jacuzzi and a couple of saunas which are good for indoor relaxation. I wish they had a swimming pool tho...! We have booked a half board service, so it included a generous buffet breakfast and dinner. Let me just say we have gained a few kilos during our stay... both breakfast and dinner are AMAZING! The waiting staff is so kind, polite and hard working! I highly recommend you this hotel if you ever go to Szeged. It has a universal Novotel quality and I don’t think you would go home...
Read moreWe decided to spend a night in this hotel based on the positive feedback seen on internet and also because the hotel has a garage and we did not want to bring all the luggage to the hotel room - we were returning home from holiday. We were told the garage was full and there was no place to park there. We insisted we need a spot in the garage - we mentioned that this was one of the reasons we were there - so the receptionist made it possible to park our car in the garage, after all.
The room is old fashioned - we are Novotel clients, but never had we seen furniture like this in a Novotel hotel - but this was not the main problem! The room was not clean at all! It was a while since a cleaning lady spent some time there - please see the attached photos. We were with a kid, so before we went to bed - 1 o'clock AM - I cleaned the dust from the furniture near the bed! This was a first for me in a 4 stars hotel! The bed linen and the curtains were broken - see the photos, please. The draperies were of plastic, like bathroom curtains.
In the bathroom, the water had a bad smell, like sulfur! It was impossible to wash your face or teeth with it! We used our still eater for hygiene :)! The soap was of poor quality! And, the toilet was not working well! We had to phone the receptionist - a real challenge since the telephone and its receiver were all dirty and was disgusting to approach it - and asked for...
Read moreWe stayed for 1 night, very clean hotel room, good location, but the hotel room was 3 times more expensive than normal as there was a sports event in the city. For this price we would have expected there to be working air conditioning in the room, especially since the temperature during the day was around 27 degrees and our room was on the 8th floor with a south facing balcony on a sunny day. When we phoned up reception to say the air conditioning is not working and it was 25 degrees in our room at night we were told that someone would be out in the morning to look at it. We then had to remind the person that we are only staying for 1 night so it's not much help to us if someone comes out in the morning. They just repeated that someone will be out in the morning and we weren't offered any other solutions like moving rooms or bringing a fan up to our room. We were staying with our 9 month old baby who was not used to the heat and was up all night. When we complained about this again at check out we were told that the heating is centralised and that they were turning the air conditioning on the day we were checking out. For the price we paid I think it was unacceptable that they didn't have air conditioning or didn't organise the air conditioning to be switched on when the it was that warm outside, or offer any alternative solutions to make our stay more comfortable especially when travelling...
