The first experience was actually pretty good. Amazing smoky smells, excellent atmosphere like you were sitting in a garden, nice background music.
But unfortunately our experience changed 180 degrees right after we ordered. The waiter was nice, but we waited literally more than an hour to get our meals even though the restaurant was less than half full when we arrived. No sorry, no complimentary food or anything. Just like if it was normal to let a guest wait for more than an hour.
Despite the amazing smells, the food itself was also a big disappointment.
We ordered the two classics of Serbian cuisine; cevapcici and pljeskavica. Both had a wonderful smoky flavor, but otherwise were at most mediocre. Chewy meat that seemed to be thawed directly from a cheap supermarket bag. I’m not saying it was, it just felt like that.
Both came with an extremely small bowl of ajvar, medium quality at best, and chopped raw onions in some unidentifiable watery sour cream spread. No doubt this was as delicious as it sounds.
I ordered pan fried potatoes, sauerkraut and ham as side dish, something typical of the region. It was extremely salty and oily, almost kind of borderline inedible.

Read moreSome colleagues and I were in Szeged for a workshop. We tried other restaurants in the city and were not impressed. I am big fan of Serbian food and was glad to find a restaurant that served it in Szeged. The quality of the food here is better than most restaurants I've tried in Belgrade and certainty better than other restaurants we tried in Szeged.
The food was the most flavorful I've had in a long time. Between the three of us, we ordered the grilled eggplant dish, pljeskavica, gurmanska pljeskavica, punjena vesalica, and sopska salata. For dessert we had the palacinke (crepe) stuffed with baked apple and baklava. The servings were huge and all the food tasted like it was made fresh and in house. All of it was topped off by the waiter who was very friendly and professional.
I can't recommend this place enough. You must try this restaurant if you...
Read moreIt is one of the worst food I have ever eaten. I am not sure who is rating that restaurant 4.7. We order first apetizers. It came kajmak, ajwar and some grilled eggplant sauce. I can 100% tell ajwar and grilled eggplant sauce are from jar... Also kajmak was just salted butter? For sure not original one. I recommend them to visit Belgrade and check how it is Serbian food looks like. Our main meal was grill plate. It was also disaster. They are serving pljeslivica almost 60% onion in it... I have a strong feeling cevabcici can be store bought as well. So not recommended don’t look at good other comments. It is second restaurant in Szeged with good comments with bad food. I believe there is...
