I used to visit this place many years ago (pre Pandemic) for breakfast and lunch, and was impressed with the menu, ambience and service. So when we saw a deal for a hotel stay we took it. Perhaps it's COVID, perhaps something else - but the general quality seems to have gone down.
Starting with the buffet - they seem to have stopped the buffet lunch and dinner. (When I asked, I was told "we don't have a buffet lunch and dinner as such, you can eat at the restaurant if you want". What??)
Breakfast consisted of 3 refried and very oily medu vadas, dosas on-demand, puri (again oily and cold), idlis and upma. A limited menu compared to similarly priced restaurants. Plus there were only a few pieces of each item so we basically got the last pieces. There was no tea, only coffee.
Also note - breakfast is actually available only after 7.45am, and only until about 9.30am. If you arrive after that don't expect to find anything fresh.
Parking is available in the basement only for 2 wheelers and small manual vehicles. Larger or automatic vehicles will be unable to get inside, and have to use an open parking lot a few blocks before the hotel.
Thankfully valet parking was available and we tried to use it - only to be told several times, that the valet driver was absent and we would have to park and pickup the car on our own. This was a bummer for 2 reasons - first, we don't know the area and got lost while navigating the one way streets, and second, the parking lot is a slushy dirt patch behind a cigarette shop (filled with tobacco spit, discarded cups and cigar butts). Consequently our car was completely spoilt with bird poop and slush by the end of our stay.
We thought the room would compensate - after all there are lots of restaurants within walking distance and for online ordering, and location is one of the big pluses of this hotel. Until we found out there is some major blockage with the taps and its mostly air or muddy, slimy water that comes out. Plus the AC was either too cold or too warm most of the time.
To be fair the few pluses are - good location, reasonably good and large rooms and well, nothing else. Try out the other hotels in the area,...
Read moreMy family and I are currently staying at the Elanza Hotel on 10th -12th September 2021. It is the worst place to stay at. We wanted to do a staycation during this Ganesh Chaturthi weekend and it has been the worst experience ever.
They give us a room which is reeking of smoke Then they shift us to another room, in which the shower gel dispenser doesn’t work, the tv channels are not available and the shower door doesn’t close Then the shower head is not working, after calling the maintenance guy, to fix it, he yells at us saying “how do I know if it’s working or not” The room key holder falls out, displaying inner wires which is extremely unsafe Other rooms food plates were left outside for hours leaving a bad smell in the hallway When we call reception to enquire about breakfast order-in options they have no idea what are the rules and policies of the hotel None of the staff follow strict COVID-protocols. Some were wearing masks below their nose others no masks at all, including the manager himself.
I just don’t understand how people run a hotel or have the audacity to take booking with such poor quality of service, with no maintenance being done on a daily basis and then call themselves a hotel. It is just mind-blowing. We were supposed to have a vacation here but it has been anything but that. And it’s been more stressful than relaxing dealing with all this nonsense. No one should book a stay here. It’s the worst possible...
Read moreThe Elanza Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the heart of the city, just 0.5 km from M G Road. It is an ideal choice for discerning business travelers who are looking for an elegant and fully furnished accommodation. The hotel has about 40 plus rooms, including a banquet hall and a boardroom. The rooms are tastefully decorated with modern amenities and are designed to provide maximum comfort to guests. However, the bathrooms are quite small and in need of some work. The reception staff needs some customer service training long wait time for check-in and they seem very rude all the time, like overworked. This can be a bit of a hassle for business travelers who are pressed for time. The hotel management should look into this issue and take steps to improve the check-in process and the way they are towards the guest. At least a smile. The breakfast offered at the hotel is limited but good. The well-connected internet is a plus for business travelers who need to stay connected with their work. However, the rooms are small in size and the hotel needs a revamp to provide a more modern and comfortable experience for guests.
Overall, the Elanza Hotel is a decent choice for business travelers who are looking for a centrally located boutique hotel with basic amenities. However, the hotel management needs to address the issues of customer service, room size, and bathroom conditions to make the stay more comfortable and...
