Well most loyal followers of Harima would call it a hidden gem. How else can you explain a quiet, quaint restaurant bang on Residency Road, nestled among offices, overlooking greenery.

We all have a friend who recommends you such gems, based on his / her own experience and you can't wait to try it out. Harima comes highly recommend by Fat Piggy and one fine afternoon we decided to act on such high recommendation.

Harima is a tastefully done place, quietly crying out all things Japanese. After being swiftly seated, and handed down our menus & some wet tissues, the difficult choices start to hit you. Whether you should go for their curated lunch conbos or to go a la carte. The options under both the choices are not very long, but tempting enough to get spoilt for choice. The combo must be fairly new, that it is not listed here in the Zomato menu.

We opted to go with our independent & highly individual choices and ordered a Nigiri Sushi, followed by our mains.

While we waited for our Sushi, we were handed some nice fragrant cold towels, and very soon our sushi arrived.

We did wait for the waitstaff to explain us the different Sushi spread in front of us, sadly we had to ask someone to take us through. Though, luckily for us, a Japanese gentleman reacted to our plight and came to our help.

Happy to help, he took us through what was on the Nigiri platter. We had 7 pieces of fresh seafood + egg resting atop oblong shaped rice. Our host explained that we have Sushi with fresh tuna, salmon, squid, grouper, prawn & egg. Apparently, Grouper as a fish is found in deep waters, not widely available in Japan and is a very expensive fish out there. However, Groupers are more widely available in India, that too in a not so expensive price, that these guys are able to offer them more widely here in India. And their Japanese clientele revisit this place for the grouper. Most of the other fish like Salmon, Tuna, squid, & prawns were fresh produce, sourced mostly locally. We were told to use our hands to pick up the Sushi, the traditional way, with an occasional smearing of wasabi paste or a dip in the soy sauce.

There were two pieces of grouper Sushi which me & my friend decided to take one each, adding to that I picked up a the egg, prawn Sushi from the platter. Though am not a big fan of Sushi, I did like the freshness, especially that of the grouper. I have tried Sushi elsewhere and this is the first time am trying the grouper, and I really liked it. A must try for the Sushi aficionado.

For mains we decided to try their Shoyu Ramen with Chicken, & a Yakisoba Seafood noodles.

I decided to pick up the half portion, so that I can squeeze in some dessert.

The ramen itself was perfectly cooked and the broth flavoursome. The garnish, especially the leeks added a flavourful touch in the tongue.

I did sample some of the Yakisoba noodles, which was nicely flavoured with choicest of sea food which were wonderfully cooked.

For dessert we ordered my all time favourite Matcha Green Tea ice cream. It's a taste not many would like, but I have developed a taste for its neutral flavour with a hit of sugar here & there.

My friend choose the ice Kachang style, Uji Kintoki, shaved ice with condensed milk syrup and red bean paste. The flavour was ok, and we expected the shaved ice to be a little more fluffy over the top, a little disappointing from the looks & taste department.

Overall a great place to dine Japanese cuisine, a must visit hidden gem, will come...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Harima and I have to say, it was an absolutely amazing experience. From the moment my friends and I walked in, we were greeted with a warm and friendly "IRASHAIMASE" from the staff (My friend got scared because of the shout 😂), which immediately made us feel welcome and excited to try the food.

Speaking of the food, it was truly outstanding. We ordered the Ramen, Takoyaki and Dorayaki, and each dish was prepared to perfection. The Ramen broth was rich and flavorful, the Takoyaki was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the Dorayaki was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. It's clear that the chefs at Harima take great pride in their craft and put a lot of care into each dish they create.

They recommended to take Ramen first so they brought a bowl of Ramen and a pair of chopsticks, we had no prior experience we both were struggling to use the chopsticks to eat Ramen, we learnt to use it as we ate, we were anxious that the staff will say something seeing us struggling with chopsticks but they honestly weren't even looking at us (phew), while eating our Takoyaki order came, after the staff went away my friend just took a Takoyaki and put it in his mouth, it was piping hot, his eyes watering because of how hot it was, the waiter came and asked if there was a problem 😂 and how the Takoyaki was, I answered it was too hot but Ramen is good.

The service at Harima was also top-notch. Our server was incredibly attentive and helpful, making recommendations and answering any questions we had about the menu. We felt well taken care of throughout the entire meal, which only added to our enjoyment of the experience.

And let's not forget about the atmosphere. The restaurant truly embodies a Japanese theme, with its decor and ambiance transporting you to another world. The attention to detail is impressive. It really made the experience feel special and unique.

Overall, I can't recommend Harima enough. The food, service, and atmosphere are all exceptional, making for an unforgettable dining experience. If you're looking for delicious Japanese cuisine served in a beautiful setting, Harima is definitely the place to go. 5...

We are very well traveled (US, Canada, South America, Europe, Asia incl Japan)... and after being in India for over a week was hoping Bangalore might have some decent sushi &/or Ramen. I really wanted to love this place as I was craving Japanese food.

It's difficult to find, no signs by the elevator for the restaurant. So we wandered around lost asking the locals... Luckily the florist shop on the back side of the building is VERY familiar with this restaurant (we only asked about "a restaurant" & he knew strait away so must get a lot of the same question -- he was so kind & walked us to the stairs / elevators!)

We ordered a hot sake (recomm over the cold version - it was OK) while we perused the menu.

I found it very strange they provided the wet cool towels then handed us menus (dirty)...

The table behind us attempted to wave down a server multiple times to get their check...

We followed suit when still no one showed up...

Our following order: Nigiri salmon (2pc) - warm, poor quality... very questionable if they keep the fish at the right temp / slightly chilled (to avoid food poisoning) Miso soup - not so great Shoyu Ramen Large (interestingly came with a side of tiny kimchi) - still not so great Ginger high ball - great but pretty hard to mess up ginger ale & whiskey Moscow mule - not so great

We left most of the soup & ramen... & headed else where for a real meal.

Usually we go to a restaurant & they do some things poor/mediocre & 1 or several items really well but we didn't see any of the food as good/done well at all...

3158 INR - it's definitely NOT authentic nor worth...

Went there with a couple of friends on a Saturday to try out Japanese cuisine as Harima is one of the highest rated Japanese restaurants in Bengaluru. Its a bit hard to find the place, as it sits on the 4th floor of the building and the name board is for some reason away from the entrance area so it was a bit adventurous to find the actual place😂 The ambience is quite nice, the staff greet you in Japanese when you enter which was really unexpected, and kinda set the scene that they are serious about the Japanese experience. We seated at the Japanese-themed seating area, they have about 4 tables and it was quite similar to what we get to see on Videos of Japanese restaurants so extra marks for that. Coming to the food, it could've been better. We tried all the Ramen dishes as we went as a team of 4. We had a vegetarian one, a Pork Chashu Ramen and two Chicken ones. And I felt that the Ramen broth could have had a little more depth to it. It was a bit shallow for me and tried the other Ramen broth from friends, I felt it could have had a bit more depth and umami maybe that's just our batch. For startes we had pork belly which was really good. We also had the matcha-flavored cheesecake and Japanese styled pancakes (Okinomiyaki, I believe) for dessert, but I have nothing too interesting to remember... They have Asahi beer and Sake, we tried the Sake it was good but a bit heavy on the pocket. Overall worth a try if you are obsessed with Japanese but for general people who don't have much knowledge about the cuisine like me, it might not impress you that much.

Unpretentious Japanese restaurant with great service and a lovely selection of Sushi, Sashimi, Nigiri and fried and grilled delicacies and an excellent selection of alcohol. I'm giving them a 4.5 rounded off to 5 only because a couple of the Sushi/Sashimi selection were not available. To their credit, there were a couple of Japanese gentlemen dining here, and they looked happy with their experience. Moreover they looked like regulars, which gave us a good deal of confidence in our choice. I noticed they have a private room for larger parties, and a traditional seating area with floor seating and low traditional dining tables, if you're into the authentic experience. We asked them to give us 2x 6 piece Sushi platters instead of the 12 piece ones they list on the menu, just so we could experience more variety and they happily obliged. They're expensive, but not outrageously so. The decor feels a little dated and is very subtle and Un-"fine dine" but I found that quite refreshing, actually. Some ambient music might help drown the sometimes noisy traffic from downstairs, and louder patrons. Paid parking on the opposite side of the road is convenient but crossing the 4 lanes of traffic is an adventure sport by itself. All in all, a very good dinner experience.
