I am honestly sorry not to be able to give a very positive feedback to this place, because it is run by GREAT people and the atmosphere is gorgeous. The owner, a retired pilot, speaks perfect English and he will welcome you in a really warm and pleasant way. Food is excellent, home-prepared by a lovely madame (probably the best eaten in India, since I asked for a cut down on chilly!) and the service is kind and perfect. But…||The room rate is not budget, we paid about 20Euros per night for a super de-luxe room, in an area that is very far from everything. You must add to your budget at least 10Euros a day in transport just to go and come to the hotel from any place in Calcutta, since the bus service is not frequent and the stop is quite far. When you use the bus service it takes 2 and a half hours to get to Kolkata centre. The 5 kilometers of distance indicated in the site is fake, since it takes around 12/16 km to any place in town (1 hour and something each drive!).||The room we were given was badly furnished and quite dirty, it had a window, but it was blocked, so humidity was very high and there was some stink of mould around (we actually couldn’t use the wardrobe for the stink!). If you check the pictures you’ll realise that the average maintainance was poor and even hot water was a disaster. The room is serviced with a very small water boiler, so you have to rush if you want to have enough for 2 showers in the morning. Actually it was hardly enough to wash my wife’s hair, even closing the water between a shampoo and the other. With all my respect, I must add that attached to the room there is a family with a very little toddler, who hasn’t stopped crying and shouting night and day, so the quality of sleep and relax was really compromised. When the kid was quiet (or probably overwhelmed by the drill and hammer), there were men at work just in the front of the door, so our four-night-treat in a superior deluxe room was really a failure. Again, I am very sorry for the people who run the place, but I would never...

Read moreFirst of all I would want you to focus in the last word of the hospitality, thats "house".So expecting a hotel like room is not appropriate.Seeing pictures of the rooms online was good but after visiting there I saw it was just an average room.
Good things-They provide you A.C,Broad beds. And I liked a thing here which was well mannered staffs.
Bad things-Blankets smell dirty and seems untidy which gave itching which was also due to mosquitos though there was mosquitos repellents. Now coming to the most dissapointing thing which is food.A simple tawa roti costs you Rs.10.A simple parathaa costs you 15.And they both are very small in size. You will get only Rice,I repeat, only rice(no daal and sabji) worth of Rs.90.Eating food of Rs.300 would also not fill your appetite. In short, the food department is not so tasty but only expensive. Now coming to the bathroom zone. The bathroom had no soaps or shampoo or oil.You have to ask for it or else they won't provide you that. The flush of the toilet doesn't work properly. You have to flush it 4-5 times in order to drain your poop. The jet is just for a name shake. It acts like a tap with no pressure of water. You'll get a card with wifi passwords and all.But unfortunately you can't use internet because the signal is too weak to be coming till your bed.You have to go to the door to fetch some signal. And mainly internet is not working.I had to complain every hour for the wifi connection. And they were like,"ab kal ko hi hoga jo hoga, aadmi kal thik karne aayega.".
In short,If you just want a room to stay in an air conditioned room without expecting any facilities. You can book here.I am giving the 2 stars only for the good behaviour...
