A Big No No
Not a family-friendly or couple-friendly hotel.
I just had to share my personal experience at So called Chanakya (Govt approved) hotel ,
It's a big no-go for families or anyone, really.
So, I checked in with my girlfriend, and I casually mentioned that my girlfriend's sister might drop by for a birthday celebration. To my surprise, the hotel staff dropped a bombshell: an extra 1000 Rs if she showed up. Reluctantly, I agreed to pay it, thinking it was just a formality.
Well, the twist in the tale is that my girlfriend's sister couldn't make it. I went back to the manager and politely asked for my extra 1000 Rs back since she didn't come. But, oh boy, did things take a turn! The manager went all rude on me, saying they couldn't refund my money because it was my problem if she didn't show. Seriously?
I tried explaining that I booked just one room for 1200 Rs, but honestly, it wasn't worth more than 500 Rs. Dust and garbage galore. The manager's response? "If you have a problem, leave the hotel right now, in the middle of the night." Lovely, right?
I did argue for a bit, but then I thought, "You know what? My girlfriend's safety is more important than getting that 1000 Rs back." So, we left.
The manager talks very rudely and so arrogant like he is running a hotel near Oberoi Villa or Marriott, but hey, basic respect and clear communication with customers shouldn't be too much to ask. Don't be in the business of taking people's money without delivering on your promises.
Dont checkin in this hotel , otherwise...
Read moreAsked for a simple room to spend the night. Man at the counter quoted 700 but he started saying 800 after I had accepted to take the room and given my ID. He said it it a manner as if he had been saying 800 all along. It is all planned. ||||After I signed up he advice me to see both AC and non AC rooms although I said non AC would suffice. I was shown the AC room which was better maintained ( cost 1200). But the the non AC room was situated at the top floor where it was feeling like a furnace in even at night. Anyways, I did not want to give them any extra money so I took it and spent the night. ||||Now the problem is, the room was actually pathetic. The bathroom seemed as if it had not been cleaned since 19th century. Most of the fittings were either not functioning or simply non existent. They did not bother to offer any of the basic amenities such as the towel and drinking water. There was a phone to call for food but it was not working either. A non AC room means a room without an AC. It does not mean a concentration camp and it can certainly do with less...
Read moreThis is a hotel located in a very crowded area of delhi. It is hardly 5 to 7 minutes walk from RK Ashram metro station.|I stayed here for 2 day and 1 night in June 2013. The staff at reception was very curt and unfriendly. Wierd looking men who seems to have no meaningful business can be found hanging around in lobby and reception area.|Coming to the room....It was spacious with properly working AC.....important things that were lacking were proper lighting and cross ventilation. And some typical sort of smell persists around the room. 2 cups of tea took around 40 minutes to arrive....although it was more than 2 cups ( as they served a full kettle, which made my dad happy 😊). Food was ok and etable....nothing sort of tasty about it....We managed to pass our time by watching movies as we both fell ill and couldn't visit tourist attractions. Pharmacies were quite handy around and a lot of places to opt for eating as well.|Also there is a big street market spread in the vicinity.|Our checkout was hassel free and we managed to reach station by our...
