I went there as a solo traveller. So was not sure what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised overall. Quick check in at the reception with welcome drink (non alcoholic). The room was a 1 bedroom flat (without kitchen) with on suite etc. Spacious for one person. Bisleri/Mineral bottles x 2 every day in the room. Room cleaned every day. Both living room and bedroom had air conditioning, fan and tv so heat was not a problem. Large balcony facing ocean although ocean not visible from my ground floor flat at least. But you can reach it in 2 min max through the back entrance. I reached bit late due to delayes flight so missed lunch hour but they made chicken sandwich, coffee for me. Also i used in room dinner service from menu. About 50 inr charges, which was nothing considering i was exhausted and couldn't go out. Food was fine but nothing extraordinary. Breakfast was buffet with mainly Indian cuisine like idli, upma, wada, rice, veg haka noodles, boiled egg and few more options. Also tea, coffee, juices and cereals etc. So plenty. You can also get freshly made omlet and dosa by order. Facilities were overall good and felt safe. Staff is very helpful. This property doesn't have taxis outside like Novotel does but they will call or book taxi for you. All amenities nearby including shopping mall, street shops, medical centre, plenty of restaurants. If you are into goan fish cuisine then try Cocum Kadhi across the main street. Didn't try swimming pool but it is 4 ft deep, not busy and kept very clean, if it matters to you. Overall, I think it was a good deal. Very affordable, safe, clean, and helpful staff overall and beach almost in the back yard.

I've spent four nights at De Mandarin Beach Resorts and enjoyed the cozy, clean and spacious rooms. The swimming pool was also clean and nice. The restaurant food was tasty, but the coffee at breakfast was disappointing. The location was great, close to the main road and the beach, but still quiet and relaxing. However, I had some issues with the air extractor in the bathroom, which was noisy and ran all the time. I also found the staff although friendly, to be untrained and at times unhelpful (kudos to Phaokam who was proactive and efficient, unlike most of the rest of the hotel staff is). They gave vague answers to my questions about using local taxis, and places to visit, and also failed to make or serve drinks properly. One night I ordered a gin and tonic and they brought me plain gin with no ice or tonic, and a mug of warm water. However overall, I had a pleasant stay, but I think the place could be much better with some improvements. The staff need proper training and it would be nice to be able to turn the air extractor off somehow. De Mandarin Beach Resorts has a lot of potential, but it needs to work on its service quality.

This property is connected with a street which touches main candolim road. The area does not feel of any excitement. Its just a villa house with swimming pool and a small lawn. There are no activities like a resort and trust me if you really have visited 100+ hotel and resorts, you will not like it. Beach is far and you can go through property only in day time and pathway which is not maintained. Wild grasses, broken bottles and scary. Food is just average and not like 4 star which they claim. Rooms have dove plastic bottles with hand wash, shampoos and body wash. No Chair and Table in room. We were in deluxe room. We paid 4k a night which really doesn’t worth. Another major issue is the street which connects to hotel there are dogs which barks continuously and scare every one. The local told me to be careful they bites. Night time we were really scared to go out. The good thing is that the property gave us early checkin and staff was polite and kind.

Have been to candolim multiple times and stayed at many hotels including all leading brands on that stretch of road, but I would rate this hotel as the finest among all. The reasons are plenty as I stayed for 5 nights and 6 days:

  1. it is right in the Centre of candolim stretch where all the action is.
  2. walking distance from the beach, it's a beach property.
  3. inspite being close to road it is surrounded by flora and fauna that gives you an actual feel of resort with silence from hustle bustle, waking up to birds chirp and ample of breeze to keep you fresh
  4. the room size. Its huge it's a 01 room suite with large balcony opening to a garden/pool. (A category above deluxe) for couple deluxe room is also sufficient.
  5. food is awesome, freshly cooked (hence waiting time is close to 30 min and more)
  6. a very happy, friendly and service oriented staff. Cant forget the great man Abdul who helped coordinated our entire plan and stay before we embarked on our journey, a true hospitality gem. I also remember few names who were great in their services like kishore, vikas (f&b), the chef I forgot his name who helped make a tea (the kitli chai) and niranjan, chandan, ranjan from housekeeping team and the security uncle who seats in the morning shift and helped us a lot are few people who went above and beyond their duty to comfort guest.
  7. they have a small volleyball play area behind hotel on way to beach, do try if you are fan.

Now time for cons: though very basic but I felt to mention it.

  1. the staff is inclined to serve but lacks authority. I suggest senior management to give them authority so that they can close loops and execute duties, it will only help hotel at large.
  2. they have subscribed to platforms like dineout but staff is unaware, finance team is unaware and F&B manager is unavailable to answer, hence you cannot use it or pay through it inspite being...

We stayed here for 4 nights and 5 days. We opted for 2 BHK Villa which came with a semi-private pool. Villa was spacious and comfortable, pool was also good enough. Bathrooms were clean and big enough. Best thing was, this villa was near the front entrance of resort, so less walking hazard from parking to room, ideal for senior citizens. The resort it self is very pretty. Beach is 3-4 minutes walk from inside the resort.. We had choosen breafast + dinner plan and suprisingly, we were the only ones for dinner every night. Still the buffet staff did not hesitate at all and did their best job. Dinner was absolutely amazing. Buffet manager Mr. Vipul and his team were truly professionals. Reception desk staff is also friendly. Check in and check out was easy and quick. They even help with cab service and rental car contacts which are reliable and genuine.

Things to love : Friendly and polite staff. Great food, in breakfast as well as dinner. Clean pools, fitness centre etc. Beach and market on walking distance. Small but well managed property, not too much walking.

Some suggestions : Suprisingly, Villa comes with 3 tvs, 2 in bedroom and 1 in the hall. But the hall TV should be bigger. There are 2 bathrooms, one in the hall and another upstairs in one of the bedrooms. Second bedroom has no bathroom, which was a little disappointing. Villa also has kitchen area with alot of cupboards and storage, but everything was empty, there were no dishes, cooking pans or even knives/spoon inside. Villas are surronded with lushy trees, which was very pleasant. But also caused alot of mosquitoes at night. Phones in the room need some service. Very less volume and alot of disturbance.

All in all, I will give this place a huge thumbs up, ideal for Families with kids and senior citizens. Looking forward to...
