We stopped at "The Mango Grove" as we were famished and dying of hunger due to the humidity. We placed our order (Pork Chops, Spinach & Mushroom Pasta and a glass of Port Wine) and sat back browsing our phones to pass the time and take our minds off our hunger. The wine was served first as it had to be just poured. Out of nowhere a fly falls into the wine and the owner didn't find it important to change the wine and give us, he was like "I'll remove the fly and give you" hence we had to proactively tell him to change the glass of wine and give us. *As an owner of a restaurant, he is supposed to know that any germs transferred by a fly are likely to make you fall sick. It is also known that flies get scared when they fall into any food or drink and hence let out pee as a defense mechanism. After about 45-50 mins, we realize that the food hasn't been served to us yet, hence we decided to ask and the owner responds "5 mins" so we waited. The food was served after 5 mins exactly and we begun eating, only to realize that the restaurant took so long to serve us uncooked (not thoroughly cooked) Pork Chops and Pasta. When I cut a piece of chops to eat, I was taken aback because of the sharp, pointed bones that were inside the chops. It was so sharp that it hurt my palate. Usually Pork Chops is known as the ribs of the pig. My friends Pasta was a disaster too because the spinach-mushroom cream was good but the penne was half raw and the garlic bread that came with it was too hard. Overall being a bigtime foodie, I would have to give this place a thumbs down because as beautiful as the place looks, the food wasn't that great and the service was...
Read moreI visited The Mango Grove for the first time and absolutely loved it! The food was amazing, the vibe was peaceful, and the monsoon season added a lovely charm. I even marked it as a place to visit frequently whenever in Goa. However, my experience on a visit after a year was disappointing. The rules for serving beverages had changed, and while we love their coffee and food, we were shocked to learn that coffee was no longer served after 6 PM due to staffing issues in the kitchen. Additionally, the staff seemed more focused on attending to foreign tourists than local visitors, and we had to call multiple times just to get the bill. That said, the ambience remains excellent—peaceful, with a refreshing breeze and a beautiful outdoor view. The place has great potential, and with a stronger focus on customer satisfaction and attentive service, it could easily regain its charm. Overall, it’s a mixed experience: I love the vibe and the food, but the service issues make me hesitant about visiting again.
Based on review, here’s a breakdown to an appropriate rating: • Ambience: Very positive – “peaceful vibe,” “cold breeze,” “outside view” → ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ • Food Quality: Positive – “amazing food,” “loved their coffee and food” → ⭐⭐⭐⭐ • Service: Negative – “staff not attentive,” “delays in service,” “had to call multiple times for bill” → ⭐ • Beverage/Policy Issues: Negative – “coffee not served after 6 PM,” “focus on foreigners over locals” → ⭐ • Overall Experience: Mixed – strong ambience and food, but poor service and restrictive...

Seven years ago, while staying at Candolim, we ate almost exclusively at The Mango Grove. What appealed to us was the quality of the fare served and the high standards of service. The prices seemed reasonable too. Live music added to the overall customer experience.
While vacationing in North Goa this year we decided to re-visit the place. We were very pleased to notice that the restaurant has retained its ambience and the decor is more or less similar even after major up-gradation and renovation. The food is to die for (as it has always been) and the staff still retains its willingness to delight the customers. My wife and children are more discerning about what they eat and they find The Mango Grove to be the best restaurant in Goa in terms of quality of food. For me, I rarely feel like having more than a couple of drinks at any restaurant. I make the rare exception for The...
