Having stayed at this hotel many times it's with sadness I write this review. The hotel is set in fabulous location and without doubt the best views of any hotel. The rooms have been advertised as updated. Only the showers and basin taps have been upgraded they have left chipped and broken basins still.leaking toilets that they tried to repair 3 times without success. The hotel is turning into a lockdown camp, now the hotel have decided to let none guest use the children's play area as a yoga gym for people to pay they lock the gates so us hotel guests cannot use the area or have access while they are in there. Security has become a joke. Given the the warning issued by the ministers terrorist alert 144 the gates was often left open and the security guards where missing or asleep. The new addition has a opening which people on several occasions just walked into the hotel without been challenged. Having pointed this out to the management all you got was we will address this. Having been stopped by a Indian gent in trousers and a shirt at the hotel who asked me for the my name and room number? When questioned why and who was he ? He replied head of security. Who offered no identification branded uniform or nothing to prove whom he was I refused a d told him to go to reception as I am. His reason for asking was I went through a locked gate that was open when I walked out as several locals was taking photos on the boat without any challenge or questions from the same person who claimed to be security. Fishing has become a joke with the lies about why the fish escaped, got electrocuted, cyclone killed them and the Russia guessed ate them? All excuses from the hotel team. These proved very dubious as the hotel is walled and fenced where the fish could not escape. The truth showed on 3 occasions the owners son and friends sat drinking beer and throwing beer bottles and cigarettes all over while they waited for it to get dark enough. (Again a security risk to guest) The same group mocking guest when asked to pick up bottles and cigarettes and rubbish thrown about. They then continued to lamp and net the fish removing the large ones and taking away.this is the real reason Greed how much money have this family got they have to steal the fish which they can buy for pennies. Yet advertise the hotel as a fishing haven . Yes for them same who used spear guns on fish last year and we was told never again. The new manager is giving lip service but the truth is the hotel is tired and the been abused by the owners who only care for the rupee not the first experience. It's only saving grace is it still has some great staff, the reception team, the breakfast team, Dennis, the gardener's otherwise it would have got -2. Even when you check in at 2130pm and you want to late check out they want 3500 rs when you can book online cheaper. They are very money orientated now this late check out was free previously. I did get a discount slight but others got to pay 2000 rs for 10 hours we wanted 6 and paid more. The sad part is it's a lovely hotel with lovely staff but greedy owners and shocking discrimination where Indians are allowed to do things other nationals are not. Which I also addressed. The hotel and us are done now the reason been poaching of the fish, the management and staff cannot or dare not stand up to the...
Read moreWe stayed there from 03-June-2018 to 09-June-2018. We were four people, husband + wife + 2 kids of 10 and 5 years.
Since we reached at Resort at around 8.00 pm, we could not have a look. After completing the check-in formalities, keeping the luggage in the room and taking our bath, we headed to their restaurant for dinner. It was a disappointment to find our food not in accordance to the order we had placed. We had sought Jain Food (no onion or garlic), yet we were served food with lot of onion and garlic. Above it, we paid for the dinner. Had I been a service provider, I would have made it complimentary.
Breakfast was included in the room tariff, so we did not find any problem in this. Without onion food was made available on our demand for all 6 days of our stay in the resort. Thanks.
Swimming pool is large enough for adults. For kids small and shallow swimming pool is created besides the main swimming pool. Kids enjoyed a lot there. Swimming pool needs lot of cleaning as dead insects including cockroaches were found therein. Swimming pool is of old styled
On 3rd day of our stay, the AC went out-of-order and we spent one whole humid night without AC. Next day in the evening when we came back from outing, we were offered another room. In new room also, the AC setting were not correct and hence it was not effective. Its remote control was not working. Later on remote control was changed and after its correct usage the AC started working properly.
Resort is large enough, having two lakes within the property which enhances its beauty. Lot of greenery is there which gives you peace of mind. Much activities are not there for kids to keep them busy. Either they have to be in the room or in swimming pool. Entire family can sped 2 – 3 hours to have a look at the entire facility.
Rooms are not big enough, furniture is loose, bathrooms are of old styled with external fittings, bucket is not provided in the bathroom unless requested, almirah and fridge doors are challenge to close.
They provide water bottle, as much as the guests are in one room, on daily basis.
They don’t provide complimentary tea or electric cattle in the room to help yourself for a cup of tea which almost every hotel provides. You cannot order food from outside and they have very limited variety to offer. Being totally vegetarian along with no onion/garlic, the choices were very – very limited for us.
This is a very old styled (it was made in 1992 or 1993) resort and most of the facilities have turned outdated. A lot of renovation needs to be done. It is learnt from the hotel staff that the management of the resort is not keen to improve the maintenance and undertake the renovation to make it a modern resort.
Outside the resort, there is a Taxi Stand which provides the Taxies and 2-Wheelers / 4-Wheelers on rent. Keeping in view very high transportation cost in Goa, it is recommended to hire a vehicle. While hiring, please mind that vehicle should have BLACK NUMBER PLATE WITH YELLOW COLOR NUMBERS. If vehicle does not have this, you shall be caught by Traffic Police at...

I booked this resort with my fingers crossed. Visiting Goa for first time and with family - never wanted to face any bad experience obviously.
First impression was the Gate Keeper - "Bahadur". I read in one of the reviews about bad behavior of security guard of this resort so I tried to avoid him while entering the gate. After checked-in I spoken courageously with Mr. Bahadur - asking about here & there. Believe me he was so nice that he helped me from day - one till last day - he was a gentleman with very good heart. So never ever get judgmental with any bad review - it depends on person to person. Normally I don't do - but I given a good tip while checking out today - it was deeply from my heart for his good behavior.
Second impression was the reception. The front desk team knew about my arrival (i booked from IBIBO). Everything was ready, even the guest form - I just had to sign it... wow! within 2 minutes I was done with my formalities. They given me a room according to my choice. Everything happens so smoothly that it seems that I am old regular customer of the resort. Cool!!!
Third impression was the room. It was spacious, well maintained, clean washroom with milky white towel set, dustbin, mineral water bottles, king size bed with milky white bedsheet & cover, big tv, ac (might need to increase its capacity), cupboard, laptop table, table, chairs, fridge, balcony with chair and table, cloth drying stand and beautiful pool & lake view... do you want anything more?
Fourth impression was the buffet breakfast. I would say that it was not bad but there is lot more spaces available to upgrade the quality of food. Food was good but not awesome, that is the reason I preferred to have lunch & dinner outside (this is the only reason I choosen to give 4 out of 5)
Fifth impression was overall service. Whether you order in room or go to their shack/restaurant/pool... you will get quality service - all staffs are well trained and they know the hospitality. May be few other guests might want more while staying in hotel/resort but for me expectation is not so high, I just want - "Smile while serving" and that I got from the staffs so for me its enough :)
So I found the resort fantastic and would definitely like to stay again here in my next visit. The resort given us full privacy and we enjoyed a lot staying there.
Best wishes for the Resorte Mainha...
