SOBIT SAROVAR PORTICO GOA - PALOLEM — Hotel in Goa

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sobit Sarovar Portico, where my family and I booked two rooms for a two-night stay. This charming hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Palolem Beach, making it an ideal choice for beach lovers.

One of the standout features of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff. They were incredibly supportive, prompt, and courteous from the moment we made our reservation. Prior to our arrival, they even took the initiative to confirm our booking and offered us the option to have our room decorated, which we gladly accepted. The result was a beautifully decorated room that made our stay truly memorable. To our delight, they also provided a complimentary fruit basket, a thoughtful touch that added to the overall experience.

While we didn't have the chance to dine at the hotel for lunch or dinner, the included breakfast offered a decent spread with delicious options. The live counter for breakfast was a nice touch, allowing us to enjoy freshly prepared dishes.

One of the hotel's standout features is its thoughtful design, with all rooms facing the pool. Our room also had a patio, which provided a lovely outdoor space to relax. The room size was ample, and it included all the basic amenities one would expect from a quality hotel.

A notable eco-friendly feature was the hotel's commitment to reducing plastic waste. They provided water in glass bottles, aligning with their dedication to conserving nature—a commendable effort.

The only minor downside we encountered was with the swimming pool, which, although of a decent size, had water that wasn't completely clean and had a few flies in it. However, this did not significantly affect our overall experience.

On a positive note, the hotel offers a well-equipped gym and an impressive play area for kids. This area includes a variety of activities, from carom and snooker to books for reading and a kids' play area. Table tennis enthusiasts will also find entertainment here.

One aspect that could be improved is the parking situation. The steep slope in the parking area posed a challenge, and we found that it resulted in scratches to the front or back of cars. A smoother, more level parking area would be a welcomed improvement.

In summary, our stay at Sobit Sarovar Portico was marked by exceptional service, thoughtful room design, and eco-conscious initiatives. While there were minor hiccups like the pool's cleanliness and parking situation, they did not overshadow the overall positive experience. Let's start with the good : The lobby staff tries to compensate for an obviously very under financed property. They were available and tried to fix things (though slowly). The spa is good.

The bad : The restaurant is poorly managed, the rooms and facilities poorly kept.

Everything was stained. Sofas in the lobby, bed sheets etc. The bathroom vents work very poorly, so humidity builds up and there were smells. One of our rooms wasn't cleaned properly before check-in, the other just fluffed up to seem clean, while sheets weren't replaced and dirty towels were found in the closet. The wash room also reaked of pee.

After showing this to the housekeeping director he tried to make excuses, saying it's not pee smell rather lemon grass scent. Really crazy stuff which is shameful to hear. He couldn't explain the dirty towels in the closet or the non replaced linens though. Throughout the stay later we constantly had to ask for the right amount of towels and beg for shampoo replacement in the showers.

The food in the restaurant breakfast buffet was very mediocre and non varied. It was also promised there would be gluten free options, but there were none really. I mean yes steamed vegetables and boiled egg are gluten free, but if that's the best they can do... Shameful really. I wouldn't have mentioned this if they didn't promise prestay to have options. After three days, had a long chat with the chef, explained what Gluten free is, but was wasting my time. The next day I was greeted by 4 stale pieces of bread and nothing else. Not even toasted bread... Really just a waste of breath.

Tried relaxing at the pool and ordered a cocktail. Wouldn't you know it, it came warm, no ice was used and the alcohol tasted very bad. Probably fake local brands...

All in all, while they do try to compensate when you show them problems, do yourselves a favor and don't book there. It's a waste of your money. I think the owners are trying to save money in all the wrong places like amenities,...

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sobit Sarovar Portico (Palolem Goa), and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. The luxurious accommodations, coupled with exceptional service, made my stay truly memorable. The hotel’s prime location made exploring South Goa a breeze. The hotel’s elegant design, combined with its top-notch amenities from SPA to their restaurants, Kids Play area and the best Gym i have even seen in a 4-star property (More like a 5-star property) made for a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.
