My family of 4 have just returned following a two week stay at The Fern Residency in Calangute. We had a very enjoyable time. On arrival we were met with a warm welcome and although we were 3 hours earlier than the scheduled check in time we were given a complimentary drink and shown to our rooms within 30mins. We had two 'Winter Garden' rooms and they were both clean and comfortable. A highlight was the bathroom which had all the usual facilities and an excellent shower with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. We were informed on arrival that the rooms would be cleaned at our request, which we did every couple of days. Each time, the room was well attended and fresh bedding, towels and toiletries were replenished along with tea, coffee and 2 x 500ml bottles of water. A/C was included in the price and worked correctly. Breakfast is buffet style and options included Juices, Hot and cold drinks, fruit, toast, cereals and a changing selection of Indian foods (paratha, sambal etc). We loved trying all the different foods. As the only western family in the hotel during our stay the staff made every effort to accommodate us by offering chicken sausages and even baked beans! Eggs were made fresh to order. The pool is a nice size and we enjoyed a swim. I think we were a bit of a novelty as we were asked to feature in other residents family holiday snaps but this was a nice way to meet some lovely people. My suggestion for the pool area would be to refurbish and ventilate the changing rooms as they are a little dated and a bit whiffy when the doors are closed. Front of house is nicely appointed with attentive staff. Particular thanks go to Mr Vikas who was our main point of contact and was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is a 10min walk from the beach and 5mins from the main Baga-Calangute road with various shops, restaurants and entertainment. There is also a taxi rank directly opposite the hotel which we used a couple of times (don't forget to haggle!). Overall, we have visited Goa five times and stayed in different places each time. I would happily stay at The Fern Residency...
Read moreExtremely pathetic service. Please do not spoil your vacation with this horrible hotel. Rooms allotted at 7:30 pm instead of check in time of 2:00 pm due to their internal admin error of not confirming with their team about full payment from our travel agent.
Just had 1 lunch at hotel and everything was served after 1 hour & 15 min except papad. No of tables occupied while we seated for lunch were ZERO. God knows what they were doing inside kitchen. My child slept without eating at the lunch table itself.
Mr. Piyush who is designated as a manager was not having basic sense to talk and instead started blaming clients that talk politely after their harrassment.
Charged unnecessarily for lunch at the time of check out which was offered by them on Day 1 due to their mistake in not providing rooms on time.
No quality of food even in breakfast. Fruits were available only if you reach by 9 am. After that they say fruits are over. This cannot happen for 4 consecutive days. Its just a strategy/ habit of ignoring customers' request. In short, please do not spoil your well paid vacation with such a spot where there is nothing good except a good swimming pool & well spaced rooms.
Owner should immediately look into it and change their staff (especially decision makers like manager ) if they want to survive for long in competitive industry.
Providing 1 star is also my limitation as they do not deserve that too.
On last day at the time of checkout, Mr. Piyush personally requested us to provide good reviews on google in exchange of cancelling wrongly charged lunch. We blatantly denied both. We said, our review will be honest about the good things in hotel (rooms & pool) and bitter experience.
Atleast others should not suffer like us.
Take your wise decision before booking with La Dinero. Dont run after photos on google. We did the...
Read moreA detailed report on the stay at the hotel (The Fern Residency, Calangute, Goa.) First the positives: 1- Reception: The front office employee, the gentleman who wears glasses. I forgot his name, sorry. He cares about the guest’s satisfaction and tries as much as possible to have a smile. 2- The general manager of the hotel, I did not deal with him personally, but I see him following up with the kitchen staff and supervising the interior and front offices (his presence is important, but he lacks administrative follow-up of the front offices and keenness to cover the weak points found in the front offices, which I prefer not to mention so as not to be considered negative) 3- The luxury of the room and the presence of the latest technologies. Secondly, the negatives: 1- Bad insulation and the hotel plays music in the rooms after 11 am, even though the comfort of the guest and the quietness of his room is the most important point and not making the guest feel the music while he is sleeping! 2- Not providing amenities such as shampoo, soap, water, and towels until requested! 3- A 4-star hotel does not have any tissues at all, and upon request, they will provide you with toilet tissues. Finally, I want the best for them, and I will summarize my words by saying that the hotel manager is keen on the guest’s comfort and complete satisfaction, then he is keen on the hotel’s financial income, because the first will...
