Tucked near Shimla’s bustling Mall Road, Brightland Hotel may lure you in with its colonial charm, but the experience left us disappointed and disheartened. The hotel's commitment to its “century-old rules” feels less like heritage and more like inconvenience, with rigid policies that make the stay feel restrictive rather than relaxing. Despite paying a premium, we found the amenities severely lacking. The room lacked basics like an electric kettle—we were handed water in an old plastic jug, and requests for hot water were met with a battered steel container, its handle long gone. The pillows were rock-hard, and even after multiple follow-ups, the replacements were no better. The washroom featured no hand-shower—just a bucket and a worn-out mug. To make matters worse, a blinding outdoor light shone directly into our window until 9 PM, forcing us to keep the curtains drawn through the day. Sadly, even the in-house food, though expensive, didn’t redeem the stay—bland and uninspired. At ₹3,000 per night, Brightland falls far short of comfort, value, or warmth. This stay felt like an outdated echo of Shimla’s past rather than a welcoming experience in its present.

During my four-day solo stay at this hotel, I found its proximity to the Mall Road quite convenient, just a short climb away. My room was situated on the top floor, and although it was clean and equipped with most amenities, it had a low ceiling due to its attic-style design. The lack of usable windows and no-views from the room made it slightly uncomfortable, but since I spent the majority of my time exploring Shimla outdoors, it didn't bother me too much. Additionally, the room's lock and key proved to be a bit of a challenge, often requiring multiple attempts to open. Thankfully, the staff were incredibly supportive and helpful, mitigating any frustrations I encountered Despite the room's quirks, the in-house restaurant's room service exceeded my expectations. The food was consistently delicious, and after trying it on the first day, I found myself becoming a loyal fan, indulging in at least one meal from the hotel each day of my stay. One notable convenience was the lift service provided to reach the top floor, which made navigating the hotel much easier. Overall, despite some minor inconveniences, I left the hotel feeling satisfied with my stay.

"My experience at Brightland Hotel in Shimla was fairly standard. The rooms were clean, and the hotel staff was exceptionally polite and helpful throughout my stay. However, there were a few aspects worth mentioning. The breakfast situation was a bit different than expected. Rather than a buffet, you're presented with a limited selection of 2-3 options, from which you have to make a choice. This might be a change of pace for those who prefer more variety in their morning meals. One notable issue was the management's practice of turning off the water geyser outside your room after 10:00 p.m. This can be inconvenient, especially if you prefer to take hot showers later in the evening. Another drawback was the absence of Wi-Fi facilities in the hotel. In this age of connectivity, not having Wi-Fi access can be a disadvantage for travelers who rely on it for work or leisure. In summary, Brightland Hotel offers clean rooms and excellent customer service, but it might not be the best choice if you prefer a buffet-style breakfast, need access to hot water late at night, or require Wi-Fi during your stay."

Shimla, Himanchal Pradesh, a nice and unique location for tourists to visit. But it is this very trait of Shimla that has turned the local population into cheaters, thieves and counterfeiters.

Brightland Hotel is one of many attractive hotels that you may find in Shimla to stay. But please do not make the mistake of ever entering its premises. Their staff will show politeness till the time you've deposited the advance and then, they start showing their true colors.

They take you to one of their tourist package dealers called Vicky/Vikram Rajput in their 5th floor office. Vicky Rajput along with his partner Anuj Sisodia run the tour program of the hotel under the name "Adventure Holidays" . Initially with their nice words they trick you into paying a large advance. They promise you nice and luxurious hotels and a good tour. They even mention complimentary breakfast as one of their services. BUT it is after paying the advance that you realize what a big mistake you have made. Vicky and Anuj disappear from the Hotel leaving you in confusion. One after the other their promises start breaking. The Hotel staff starts behaving rudely with you. Once you embark on the tour you will find that they have arranged the cheapest and filthiest hotels for you during your travel, while they had initially promised you the best hotels and taken the advance payment accordingly. In our case only Vicky had calculated the advance with a tariff of 4300 per night, while in reality the hotels that he arranged for us only had a tariff of 1500-2000 per night. So, for each hotel Vicky Rajput scammed us off with an amount of approximately 2300-2800 per night for 5-6 days. When we decided to confront him regarding this matter he used vulgar and slang languages on us and threatened to stop the tour mid journey and leave us on the road. This is the kind of experience you are bound to have if you sign up your tour with Brightland Hotel and its tour operator Vicky Rajput .

Edit: We are still receiving threats from Vicky's partner Anuj Sisodia to delete this review which was just posted a few hours back. This is the kind of people they are and this is how they treat tourists.

Edit 1: This a response to the owner who is calling me confused but has himself confused my details with someone else. He has cooked up a story of me even hiring coolies and all when I have an alibi to prove that I have done nothing of the sort. The owner has forgotten or has received wrong information, or has us literally confused with other guests. Seems this type of stuff goes on in Brightland Hotel. Also, a kind reminder that it was Brightland Hotel staff who took us to make a deal with Vicky Rajput of Adventure Holidays and upon enquiring I was told by the manager Kapil that Vicky Rajput and Anuj Sisodia were part of Hotel staff. I have all of that in video recording. Remember there are laws everywhere and if the owner would like to file a case, I can too as I am the victim here who has been scammed by people with Operating Offices inside...

Recently i visited shimla with my cousins and got the chance to stay here. Room was big enough and clean as well to accomodate all of us 4 guys together in one room. Although room was clean but it gave a very shoddy feeling, carpet used were very old and furniture used is of old generation. The tiles looks like as wooden flooring(latter on we come to know it wasn't) and hotel staff didnt hesitate to fool customer by claiming it to be a wooden flooring. The bathroom is of moderate size included with bathing tub and atleast twenty year old toilet seat and cannot explain the trouble we faced on next morning while using it, it swerved towards the one side and we had to sit in titled position(now think doing two task at one time😀). We stayed over there in the month of Dec, it was very cold and we demanded heater and electric kettle and to our surprise the service staff declined to give it to us. Although they promised to give us hot water until 11pm at night and they served it, but i hardly remember to visit any hotel where atleast electric kettle is not provided and consider it from the point of view when childrens are accompanying you and temperature dips to below zero at night. As far as considering their services i would define it as "below average".They didn't provide a single complimentary drinks to us.The staff was very rude and it was like they were in fighting mode, always replying rudely and were happy to say "No". We at night asked for few empty plates, at first they obliged to give and while not receiving it and calling them again they refused to give and asked for extra charges. To our surprise we also come to know that dinner was not allowed to be served in hotel room and we had to visit their restaurant. Latter on we had our dinner in their restaurant and i must say we were satisfied with food and prompt service. At last, to sum up all, i would say hotel is quiet closer to mall road and our dinner was good, and on negative side, i gave the enough details above. Seeing the exorbitant room charges and uncourteous staff may be i will not like to stay...
