My personal experience in this hotel is extremely bitter. The staff's courteousness is not good, the food is overpriced, deceit is prevalent and the location is terrible.
The good: The bathroom... (seriously!): The bathroom has modern amenities from Jaguar. The bad: Location: The hotel is located between houses, when I booked the hotel online, the photos that were shown clearly proved that the hotel was located on an intersection, however upon arriving, (I had to walk for 2 miles to get to the hotel) the hotel was practically invisible from the roads as there was no signboard signifying the way to the hotel. If you're bring heavy luggage, it's very hard to carry it to the hotel without a porter (they charge about INR 100), as there are about a flight of 17 badly-damaged steps before you reach the steps that lead to the hotel entrance, which are pretty steep. Pure Deceit: Being a two-star hotel in a hilly area, one would have expected the walls to be made from wood or at least wood on top of a cemented wall, it's true except the wall isn't made of real wood but a fake shining wood design in a plastic feeling. Amenities: The electrical water heater (called geyser in India) can dispense hot water for only 10 minutes after it has been switched ON, contrary to the staff who claim a 20-20 minute use-wait interval, after which, if you want more hot water, you have to let it warm the water for about an hour. Views: If you're expecting a great view from the hotel of the surrounding mountains, then there's bad news for you, the windows are frost-tinted and do not open, besides that there is just no view! Wi-Fi: In order to use the Free Wi-Fi in the hotel, you'll have to provide your phone number (an Indian operator) to the receptionist, then you'll be sent the username and password, and you'll be limited to using just 500MB for 48 hours or 2 days. After 2 days, that is if you stay, you'll have to get the username and password again. Price: The rates for the rooms is just absurd when comparing the size of the room, service received and location from tourist attractions.
Overall: I'm never going to visit this hotel ever again following my...
Read moreThis place is an absolute dump. It is very difficult to find tucked away behind several back alleys which are unreachable by car or taxi so I had to walk up the hill with my heavy backpack. When I booked it the description promised "city views" but the only view I had was of the shrivelled up pot plants in the alley outside. There is no heater and the hot water takes 30mins to warm up and it only lasts for a very short time even then. There is no soundproofing, you can hear every noise from every other room as well as all the noise from the street. There is wifi available but it is unreliable. The blankets were warm enough but pretty filthy, the bed was very uncomfortable and pillows were no good. I booked for 3 nights and the only reason I didn't leave straight away was because the location was so inconvenient it would have been too much trouble to walk with my large backpack to find somewhere else to stay. I don't know what these other people are smoking who have given this place good reviews but I find it hard to believe anyone could stay here and have a good time. I had to walk 200 metres up the road just to get a bottle of water because the hotel doesn't provide any. When I spoke to the manager asking to move to a room with a city view as described on my booking form, he told me there was no such room at the hotel. I asked for my money back because I had booked the room on the basis that it would have a view of the city and be easily accessible like it says on my booking document (the page also said the hotel provides complimentary bottled water which obviously is not the case) but the manager said I would be subject to cancellation charges if I cancelled the hotel, even when I pressed him that I was given false information about the hotel. I am not picky when it comes to hotels, this place would have been ok if I had not been deceived about the details but I was looking forward to a pleasant experience in Shimla at a nice hotel but this was not the case. Very bad experience, don't make the same...
Read moreStayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. First impression: We had to walk for 20 min to reach the hotel. It’s in deep inside the narrow incline roads (~2 kms from where taxi dropped us, cabs were not allowed). Since roads were inclined, we were exhausted and the evening was ruined. We stayed in semi-deluxe rooms - To bring this to perspective, NO WINDOWS, NO VIEWS and NO VENTILATION (huge disappointment) the room has just double bed and rest of it is just fitted into the room. No space to even walk. Rest of the rooms (Deluxe, super-deluxe and Honeymoon suite) - NO WINDOWS in any rooms but rooms were decent. Feedback: Cons - We tried to talk to manager for upgrading to super-deluxe by paying extra money (~6PM). Even the rooms were empty for the same day, they were asking for full charges. (Usually Hotels tend to upgrade room if rooms are available) No coordination between manager (Manoj) and Owner (Harish) - Initially manager committed to allocate upgraded rooms, but later denied the fact he agreed (after talking to owner). They will not do as they have committed. Rooms were small and we had to squeeze in to adjust. Everything is extra charge – Heaters (300 Rs), blowers and no water bottle available (not even 1 ltr, which hotels usually do). Rooms were chilled because of no ventilation. Rooms were so close that we could hear clearly from next room. This hotel will spoil the great experience of Shimla. They have rubber slipper in the room. In Yatra portal it says that Hotel is open 24*7. But, its open only from 7am to 10pm, so no one can enter or go out. Pros: Even though we had a bit of argument with the manager he was polite and didn't lose his cool/ Services were decent and...
