Disappointing Experience - Far from a 5-Star Standard
This property is nowhere close to being a 5-star hotel, except for its prices. The costs are exorbitant, but the services and quality are mediocre at best.
Food Quality and Pricing: • INR 1100 + taxes for a single plate of paneer that was both tasteless and made with hard, unappetizing paneer pieces. Completely unacceptable for what they charge.
Breakfast buffet is as good as any mediocre dhaba on ur way. Not even the bakery items and masala tea had any taste in it. Looked like the chef was some fresher who was doing internship.
Staff and Service: • The staff is more focused on impressing you with “honey-dipped” speeches but lacks any follow-through or action. They seem more interested in draining your pocket than delivering genuine hospitality.
Accessibility Issues: • The hotel lacks lifts for few rooms and floors, meaning you’ll have to walk a lot inside the property and climb numerous stairs to reach your room or access other services from the lobby. This is highly inconvenient, especially for elderly guests or families with kids. Specially when its raining and snow falling as some major part of that walking distance is in open.
Facilities: • While the hotel boasts about its amenities, like the swimming pool and kids’ room, most are either not functioning or have additional hidden costs involved. • Time slots are arbitrarily enforced, often not in favor of guests. For example, if a facility is supposed to close at 6 PM, they’ll start making excuses from 5 PM onwards, discouraging you from using it and asking you to “come tomorrow.”
As a 5-star property, they should ideally keep their facilities open until 8 PM, 9 PM, or even 10 PM, as most luxury hotels in India do. This lack of flexibility highlights poor planning and a lack of focus on guest experience.
Shuttle Service: • The free shuttle service is riddled with conditions. Availability is questionable, it only runs during fixed timings, and it drops you far from Mall Road—just till the stairs. • Reaching Mall Road & Ridge requires climbing a significant number of stairs and then walking a long distance, which they misleadingly describe as “a few steps away.” • For a 5-star property, having just one or two shuttle cars is inadequate. They should operate at least 4-5 vehicles simultaneously to serve guests effectively.
Location: • The hotel is far from Mall Road and Ridge, making it inconvenient for those expecting easy access to popular attractions.
Overall Experience: The property is far from what a 5-star hotel should offer. It barely qualifies as a 2 or 2.5-star experience, given the below-average services and absurdly high prices. I strongly recommend government authorities reconsider this hotel’s rating.
Want a baby cot for your little one? Be prepared to shell out more than the cost of a night at a decent 3-star hotel.
Honestly, it feels like the hotel’s logic is, “We’re already charging you an entire month’s salary (of their staff members) for one night—what’s a little extra for the baby? Babies don’t come cheap, you know!”
LOL.
Save yourself the disappointment—look elsewhere for better value for your money.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a three-night stay at the Radisson Jass in Shimla during March 2025, and we found it to be a generally pleasant experience. Our junior suite was beautifully appointed, providing a comfortable and spacious retreat. One of the highlights was undoubtedly the breathtaking sunset views we enjoyed from the hotel – a truly memorable sight.
The hotel is conveniently located approximately 1.5 km from the bustling Mall Road, offering a balance of accessibility and tranquility. While the Radisson Jass is a well-maintained property, it does show some signs of age. A bit more attention to maintenance and repairs would certainly elevate the guest experience. For instance, the tiled bathrooms, while functional, felt somewhat dated and the slippery surfaces were a concern. Additionally, the loose power points throughout the room and a hairdryer that repeatedly detached during use were minor inconveniences that could be easily addressed.
What truly stood out was the exceptional service provided by the hotel staff. Their courteous, helpful, and polite demeanor made us feel genuinely welcomed. A special thank you must be extended to Mr. Vikrant in the restaurant. He went above and beyond to cater to our preference for mild spicy food, patiently guiding us through the menu and coordinating with Chef Joginder. Chef Joginder himself took the time to personally check on our meals, ensuring everything was to our satisfaction. Their attentiveness was truly commendable.
We would also like to suggest the addition of lactose-free milk to the restaurant's offerings, as it would cater to a wider range of dietary needs and further enhance the dining experience. Despite the minor maintenance issues, the Radisson Jass remains a strong contender for one of the best hotels in Shimla, largely thanks to its excellent staff and stunning views. If the hotel addresses the upkeep concerns, it would undoubtedly provide an even more exceptional stay. Pros: Beautiful junior suite Memorable sunset views Courteous, helpful, and polite staff (especially Vikrant and Chef Joginder) Convenient location (1.5 km from Mall Road) Cons: Property shows signs of age; needs more maintenance (especially bathrooms and power points) Slippery bathroom tiles Loose power points Hairdryer malfunction Overall: A comfortable and enjoyable stay with outstanding service. A few maintenance updates would elevate the experience to truly...
Read moreOne of the best properties in all of shimla. Let me describe you my experience from start to end. We had booked three rooms none of them had balconies. We just requested the hotel staff once and all our three rooms were upgraded to balcony rooms ! When we entered the reception after submitting the documents we were free from any responsibilities. Hotels have welcome drinks. They have welcome high tea buffet ! Coffee, tea , snacks, pastries, cookies. It had everything ! The waiters were really professional and served us big smiles ! About the room ! It was amazing ! Area was huge ! Fully stocked pretty decent size and modern bathroom. The mini baar was stocked with treats and confectioneries ( no alcohol ). The room was clean and just the right temperature. Hotels leave pillow chocolates everyday, they leave delicious desserts !!! We were there for three days and we got a tiramisu, a chocolate cake and on the occasion of holi mouth watering ghujia !! The balcony is a bit small and enough to accommodate only 2. And the rooms are strictly non smoking. Though you can smoke in the balcony. I would recommend against it as the balcony is easily visible to all coming down for meals as the balcony overlooks the common outside area. So remember if you think no can see you when you are smoking away your tensions, people are watching from down :P :P The food was amazing. We almost had all the meals at the hotel for all the three days. The thing that really gave them a 5 star rating from me is that on our second day we didnt like the soup which we ordered with dinner. Though we didnt complain and did not even ask for anything just told the waiters about it. After we finished dinner and were about to leave. They served us with freshly made gulab jamuns. They said ki aapko kharaab mood se nhi jaane denge yahan se !!!!! Impresseive !!!!! The gulab jamuns were so soft and had just the right sweetness ! One of the best things of our whole trip. They even provide hotel taxi service to mall road. Overall for me Location 5/5 Rooms 5/5 Staff 5/5 Services 5/5 Food 5/5 Hospitality 10/5 !!!!
A must stay for all. Its family friendly! Its couple friendly ! A trip to remember with your friends ! This is the place to stay !!!!
Thanks Radisson for a...
