Absolutely loved this Old Haveli Hotel. The hotel owner, staff, location, food and everything is Excellent. Situated right ouside the market and heart of Jodhpur - Ghanta Ghar.
We arrived at 7 am in the morning and the owner Mr. Narpat Singh greeted us by Susshing as the place is dead silent at that time in the morning. Even rolling your bag is loud for that place. Being early, Mr. Narpat Singh tried to arrange for rooms as early as possible and did the best he could. Rooms are clean, lot of space and bathrooms are big and clean as well.
The thing that hits you most (in a good way) is when you go to the terrace restaurant. You get to see an absolute amazing and stunning scene - The Mehrangad Fort in all its glory. It's a scene worth remembering lifetime. Sipping a cup of tea / coffee in the chilling weather with the fort view is what makes hotel worth it. You can also see other 2 attractions from there - Jaswant Thada and the Umaid Bhavan Palace.
As mentioned earlier, the Haveli location is perfect and situated centrally for tourist locations and with lots of food spots.
200 meters from the hotel is the Stepwell (Toorji ka Jhalra Bavdi). Just outside the hotel is the famous Tea stall which gives Kulhad waali Chai and Masala Milk with Malai - absolutely delicious and not to be missed. Opposite the chai wala is also an Omelette shop which serve you so many varieties of hot and mouth watering omelettes. One km walk is another famous eatery of Jodhpur, and that is Janta Sweets. Hotel food is very good and definitely recommended.
You cannot go wrong with this hotel for anything - food, location and ambience everything is great. Definitely recommend to stay there whenever you...
Read moreFOOD POISONING. I rely a lot on many other guests’ reviews when booking this hotel so I feel obligated to share my experience as it might help some. I unfortunately had food poisoning the first night we were there. A few hours into our dinner (usually 4 to 6 if you have food poisoning), I was on the floor hugging my stomach. Sweat streamed down all over my face. I had huge headaches and the cramps that were almost unbearable. I was throwing up and ended staying up almost the entire night.
One of the things we try to do while traveling thru India is to get a car with a safe driver and eat at “safe” places. We stick to hotel food most of the time. Early in the morning, when I reported this to the young lady in charge, the response was that the food was fine because some of the other guests ate there including her family. And that was it. I am with certainty that the food was from the hotel, because I only had banana and bread all day as we were traveling, and what came out in the vomit was the food from the dinner (an indication of the source) which is natural because your body smartly rejects it. I couldn’t believe how casual people that run the hotel treat all this.
I have 2 young kids-2 and 3. Had any one of them eaten the same meal, I’m scared to imagine what would have happened. It’s not my job to tell the staff there what to do but some sort of apology would go a long way, a promise to look into the matter/learn about the details about what was eaten, symptoms, follow up with the guest, etc. so that it wouldn’t happen again.
Because if you show no concern for other people’s safety, it reveals a very ugly side of your hotel and how you run...
Read moreStayed here for 5 nights in Heritage Double Room with View and sharing my experience. Pros first Nice beautiful and huge property with good location(will give a vintage haveli feeling), just opposite Gulab Sagar Lake. You can locate the property from a distance and it is kind of a local landmark. Clock Tower is 200 metres away. Unlike other hotels nearby, this property is on a wide road with ease in access( both private and public transport)
The room I stayed in, is facing Gulab Sagar and is super spacious with decent day light and an attached balcony. Facility wise, it checks all the right boxes and bathroom is quite spacious ( FYI - the pod did not have attached hand shower)
Service was decent and prompt but desires more manpower.
Rooftop restaurant(360 Restaurant) gives a clear and great view of the fort.
Breakfast options are good and overall food is decent.
Cons For in house food orders, they do not sign-off any bill, which may lead to some discrepancy later on. Looked under staffed and some chaos when guest numbers are more. (though they managed to give us tea, which we ordered) No lift facility, if you are accompanied with senior citizens.
Overall, a great experience. The Host is from a Noble Family and is a great conversationist. One of the service staff (Somu) is a good chap and quite helpful.
We faced a small hiccup on our last day when fan and one light in bathroom was not working. Thankfully room had AC and one additional light in bathroom which saved the day for us.
Will definitely recommend this property for...
