Disappointing Experience at Indique, Jodhpur – Poor Service Overshadowed a Special Evening
We recently hosted a dinner for a group of around 40 people at Indique, Jodhpur. While the ambience was beautiful and the coordination by the chef and overall manager was professional and much appreciated, our overall experience was unfortunately ruined by the extremely poor behaviour of the floor staff, particularly Suraj Singh and Akshay Singh, who were in charge that evening.
Despite confirming a dinner time of 10:45 PM, the staff started pushing us to leave as early as 10:00 PM. There was no regard for the occasion, our prior agreement, or basic hospitality. It genuinely felt like the only thing they wanted was for us to leave our credit cards behind and vacate — even if that meant skipping the meal.
The attitude of Suraj Singh and Akshay Singh was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Their tone was confrontational and made us feel extremely unwelcome. Rather than offering any courtesy, they behaved as though doing their job was a burden. Their approach felt more like that of bouncers than hospitality staff.
Spending almost ₹1 lakh on the event, we expected at least basic respect and service — but we were left arguing with waiters over simple courtesy, which is unheard of in any decent hospitality setup, especially in a place known for Rajasthani warmth.
Credit where it’s due: the chef and the manager did their part well and remained calm and cooperative throughout. But unfortunately, the egoistic and aggressive behaviour of the floor managers overshadowed all the positives.
It was a deeply disappointing experience, and certainly not something we’d recommend for anyone expecting respectful service and genuine...
Read moreWe came here for drinks on 2 nights. The first night we came without reservation just for beers so we were seated on the lower rooftop, I asked the waiter about the upper rooftop (where you can see views of the fort, you can't from the lower) and he explained it was all booked but we could make a booking for the next night. We made a booking for 6pm and the waiter said he would book us the 'best' table which he showed us, he then brought the bill which included service charge of 5% but suggested we might want to pay 10% which I took as a tip for securing our table. However, when we arrived the next day the table we had reserved had people seated and we were shown to another table instead. I mentioned to the staff that we had booked the other table and they approached the people, the people sat there then asked me directly if we wanted them to move. Of course this was a very awkward situation and I said no because who wants to ask a group of people to move? I asked the staff which table had in fact been reserved for us and they couldn't answer. It was quite an awkward position to be put in by the staff, and a disappointing start to our evening that the table we had been told would be reserved for us was not. The cocktail I ordered, an 'old fashioned' was just watered down whisky with a slice of orange. The drinks did come with complimentary poppadoms and chutney which was a nice touch. The staff began setting our table for dinner even though we said we were just staying for drinks, so we also felt like we were expected to leave quite quickly. Unfortunately a very disappointing experience and we left...
Read moreLocation: Easy to access where you can reach the gate of the Pal Haveli hotel by your car. No need to worry for small bylanes inside the old city. Ambience: Definitely worthy going. You can have a bird's eye view of Ghantaghar as well as Mehrangarh fort. YOu can also see the beautiful gulab sugar lake. Staffs: Courteous and friendly contrary to various reviews telling rude and insensitive. Food and Drinks: Quite satisfactory. WE ordered a chicken shorba soup along with a lamb preparation as starter along with Malai kofta for main course. All the items were satisfactory and upto the mark. Yes, you may not like as extraordinary but still acceptable in all standards. Menu options: Mostly satisfactory with blend of non-veg and veg along with oriental options. Seating arrangements: You can opt for completely open air or under the shed and also in the roof terrace. You can opt for the indoor restaurants also. So you can go on a freezing evening in winter as they had tower heaters and you can opt for a summer lunch also in the cool indoor restaurant facing Gulab saagar. Service: Prompt and not so delayed. Cost: Obviously on the higher side with 18% GST. They levy this percentage as it is attached to a hotel whose room charges are over 7500 per day. They clarified this percentages in their menu book. Overall impression: A definitely worth going and one of the best choice in Jodhpur. YEs the cost is bit in the higher side but obviously you will go here only when you can...
