Commendable Architecture and Design making it one of the finest hotels of the country. Amazed how the heritage building is conserved but at the same time the new contemporary architecture is inserted within the urban fabric of the city.
I being an architect and an interior designer understand the efforts behind the structure, but at the same time i think as a tourist who's been to quite a few luxury boutique hotels across the country and around the world. Start With the Rooms:-
We had booked Garden Room , the rooms are good in size but the garden is placed suche that there is ZERO privacy as it is facing the restaurant and roof top restaurant where the staff used to soak linens in the morning amd anyone can easily peep into the garden and even the rooms. UNACCEPTABLE at a 5Star hotel Level. The rooms are deprived of even basic amenities like Shaving kit and dental kit. Going a bit into detail the showe area was not evem having a niche or any hardware to place shower gels and shampoos , this is a basic comfort that any one expects. A very minute observation though but when the evening house keeping happens in any luxury hotel they switch on the outdoor area lights but here there is just a small lamp and they did not care to look forward to it. A luxury hotel cares for smallest detail of comfort.
Coming up to the Restaurant and Food The furniture was quite uncomfortable, felt this because we visited RAAS CHHATRASAGAR and each and every detail was amazingly catered. We ordered bruschetta and it came with 4 assorted toppings which we never had before and was not even tasting that good. We ordered a made to order Tomato soup with added vegetables but it was served like a thick gravy, very bad in taste and appearance. Fried rice were good though. Coming to the service, i was reading the menu after placing the order and the staff started to pull it , like how can you be so absent minded and do such an action. This is so disappointing for a so called luxury boutique hotel.I ordered expresso chocolate mousse cake and i was served chocolate flour less cake, i actually had the same dish at Raas Chhatrasagar and i identified that it was the wrong dish served, they quickly got me my ordered dish but this sort of mistakes are never expected. I then asked to get me a dessert spoon and the staff gave me dinner spoon saying that this is our standard dinner spoon. These guys don't even know what a standard dessert spoon is supposed to be which any fine dine restaurant would have known and they had the audacity to call it that " this is our standard dessert spoon" luxury boutique experience is too far from the expectations its not even a 3 star experience.
Ending my review by simply suggesting you guys to plan only 1 Night in this property just for its architectural experience if and only if you are into designing or an architectural appreciator. Rest i personally do not recommend this place in terms of hospitality and luxury...
Read moreWe had a fort view room, which I was very excited about for the night views of the fort, which I was told is lit until 9 pm every day. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30, and got into the room at 8:40. The fort was still lit and beautiful from our room. I took out my camera for the long exposure shot and looked up and saw...blackness. Because the lights had gone off within those few minutes, and it was only 8:45 pm. God was kind enough, as we were only staying in Jodhpur one night, I got that photo just in time.
Well, the dinner at the hotel cheered me up quite a bit from that disappointment. It was incredibly delicious, and the wine selection was robust, with choices from all over the world. They had Indian and western dishes but the Indian food was just phenomenal. The only downside was that it was pricey, more than an average meal in B'lore(which is not cheap either), and so incredibly expensive for India, and you can definitely find better value elsewhere. Perhaps not coincidentally, this was the hotel with the largest percentage of white guests of the half dozen places we stayed in Rajasthan, ranging from large 5* international chains to havelis catering to locals.
Breakfast the next morning (included with the room) was filling and delightful, with lots of breads and cheeses, as well as Indian dishes.
This hotel is also located RIGHT next to the fort, and we were able to walk there in 10 minutes. But another gem, is the stepwell next door (which can also be accessed from inside the hotel grounds via an inconspicuous door along a wall, if you ask a staff member). Because RAAS is responsible for the stepwell, it was incredibly clean--in fact, the cleanest of the dozen or so stepwells I visited in Rajasthan. Stepwells are so gorgeous and this was definitely...
Read moreWorst experience, disappointing hospitality and “definitely “ not a five star property ! We have thankfully stayed there only for a night. The staff member at the reception desk are quite humble and well behaved. They have given us a good room since we were traveling with our dog. However, let me tell you very frankly this hotel is meant for foreign tourists only. They don’t treat Indian guest with same level of respect. The service at restaurant is horrible to say the least. They have two restaurants in the hotel and one near the pool side is reserved for only foreigners or if you are an influential person. They literally asked me to go sit upstairs ( other restaurant which was empty) for dinner. I honestly didn’t eat anything in the hotel except the day we have arrived.
Pros: Pet friendly hotel ( although they don’t really care about the dog or Indian guests) Good view from your room Sustainable and good toiletries
Cons: Go there with a foreign guest and you’ll be treated well otherwise they don’t really care. Took them 20-25 minutes to bring a paneer paratha. I literally left the restaurant empty stomach. Morning was ruined. They don’t even ask for a review while checking out or anything. I have request from the RAAS hotel management, kindly change your staff from restaurant at Jodhpur. You can even keep a hotel policy on your website that we entertain only foreign guests at our RAAS JODHPUR hotel, Indian guests are not allowed.
Also, if you really want to stay at RAAS property then please go for RAAS Chhatrasagar. Extremely gorgeous property and staff was so welcoming. One of the best property in Rajasthan. You can go for shopping to Jodhpur early in the morning and return back at night. It’s hardly 1-1:30 hour ride from...
