I booked a single room with shared bathroom for a day on 11OCT2024, the place is nice and neatly maintained. The staff was also nice and explained the rules and regulations.
I extended my stay for next day 12OCT2024 and also paid for the same.
My problem started after that, i was informed by the local people that from 12th Oct afternoon 15:00 onwards till 13th Oct morning 08:30 there will not be any vehicle access to the property as city traffic will be blocked for Dusherra celebrations.
This was not informed to me by the owner when i extended my stay. I was a solo traveller in two wheeler and got stuck. I have to start my ride on 13th early morning to reach my hometown Trivandrum.
When i called the owner ahe informed that I will be refunded only if she gets another customer for the same room. She refunded me the security deposit of 500/- only.
I had to take my belongings & my two wheeler handed over the keya to caretaker on 12th Oct at 11:00 and vacate the room and took a room outside the city.
I would appreciated the owner if she had told me the situation well in advance when i requested for extending my stay, as im from Trivandrum and first time visiting Coorg, i had no clue about the situation.
Also the owner should have shown the courtesy to atleast refund half the room charges as I have not utilised the room...
Read moreLocation is very convenient near to all tourist attractions and to market. Cauvery silk emporium is right next door, area is super quiet.
Disliked · Bare minimum type of facility. staff/ Owner is not in your way but certainly not friendly/ courteous might be because of the language barrier. I visited with my family not expecting hotel like treatment but a comfortable stay. We were 4 people stayed for 2 nights in December. They provided us only 1 towel second towel was provided with great reluctance after insisting we will need at least two, only 2 blankets were provided for 4 people and one more was provided after pushing for it. It wasn't made clear that only 1 room will be provided but I hadn't asked for two different rooms, so fair play, however there was only one bathroom/WC a very small one with no privacy curtain making it very difficult for 4 people to manage in it. one tiny light bulb was provided. Water in a container is provided and you can get more from the common room if you want. I had booked stay here as location is very convenient, I was disappointed to find it less of a homestay and more dormitory. If you are going to the place thinking kitchen or common room/living room will be easily available to you that's...
Read moreWe stayed overnight on our way further into Coorg. The room was fine for the price (₹1100 for the budget room) and the homestay is situated close to the bus stand. The sheet was too small for the bed (although not uncommon in India) and had a hole in but that's a relatively minor issue.
The homestay charges extra for WiFi. We were not told this prior to arriving. We have not come across this before after travelling for more than a year across Latin America and Asia, neither have we ever come across it before in Europe. It's difficult to understand why there is an extra charge when the marginal cost of providing WiFi to guests must be very small and WiFi is a standard service in lodgings these days. It left a slightly bad taste that the extra charge is designed to make the room look cheaper than it...
