Read moreDisappointing Experience at Merlin International for Pre-Marriage Ceremonies
I made a reservation at Merlin International for my pre marriage ceremonies, three months in advance. At the time of booking, no mention was made of any additional charges beyond the agreed-upon terms. However, the atmosphere drastically changed just days before the event, as unexpected hidden charges were suddenly introduced, along with a series of unexpected hassles that disrupted the seamless flow of the event.
One of the major surprises was the introduction of a "catering and decoration gate pass" required for any outside vendors. Strangely, this crucial detail had never been communicated during the initial booking process. To our disbelief, each gate pass carried a hefty price tag of 3000 Rs per vendor. When confronted about this omission, the response we received was that it was a "Hotel Management policy" and that any concerns should be directed to the management.
With the event date looming, switching venues became an impractical option. Reluctantly, we had to succumb to these new terms and conditions. The management's lack of cooperation was evident as the catering and decoration teams struggled without any support or guidance during event.
The experience overall left me disheartened and frustrated. I had expected a smooth and memorable celebration, but instead, I was met with unexpected costs, last-minute changes, and uncooperative staff. Sharing this review is not an attempt to discredit this hotel, but rather an honest account that I hope will serve as valuable feedback for the management. Transparency and clear communication are vital in event planning, and unfortunately, my experience fell short of these...
Read moreI booked Merlin International Hotel for a day despite the negative reviews because we were in Thrissur only for a few hours and had a late night train. And the hotel is right next to the railway station. The hotel looks good from the outside but the rooms are not in a good condition. The furniture, AC and even the WC looks very old. The worst part of the hotel is that there's no lift! I just don't understand why would you not keep a lift. How are old people supposed to get to the room on the 2nd floor?! Moreover, the staff is very rude. They would say no to any requests you'll make. We requested the person at the reception that our train is at 3am so could someone help to bring our luggage downstairs at that time. They said that's not possible as they won't have a room boy at night. We asked if they could arrange an auto for us at that time, they said no for that. We stayed for barely 7hrs in the hotel and because of the negative reviews I brought some water bottles and cold drink with me. But while checking out the guy at reception told us to wait as he would have to go check the room.. And he comes back to say that we have taken a bottle from their mini-bar fridge, when we didn't even touch the items in the mini bar. I have never been this furious at any hotel management. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff is rude and won't help you. They don't provide basic services at night like bringing water bottles to you room or helping with your luggage. The rooms are not at all worth the price you pay. There is no lift. Please save yourself from all the trouble and don't book...
