⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ A Legendary Biryani Destination in Thrissur! Hotel Sapphire isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an institution. It carries decades of biryani tradition and is a go-to spot for both locals and visitors. If you're a true biryani lover, this place deserves a spot on your culinary map.
🫓 Food: I came here specifically for the biryani, and it lived up to the hype. The chicken biryani was fragrant, subtly spiced (not overpowered by masala), and the rice was perfectly cooked—light, long-grained Siliguri rice, not the usual sticky stuff you get elsewhere. The meat was tender and flavorful, cooked in the “dum” style, which really locks in the flavor. No reheating, no shortcuts. You can taste the freshness.
🪑 Ambience: This is not a luxury restaurant, so don’t expect a fine-dining setup. The interior is basic and functional, with old-school furniture and a bit of a retro vibe. It can get very crowded, especially during lunch hours, so be prepared for a wait if you show up between 12:30 and 2:00 PM. The washrooms could be cleaner—that’s one area where they really need to improve.
👨🍳 Service: Staff were polite, efficient, and knew how to handle a rush. Food arrived quickly, even though the place was packed. Not overly friendly or chatty, but definitely efficient.
💸 Value for Money: Prices are a bit on the higher side for a non-AC eatery, with biryanis starting around ₹180–₹250. That said, considering the quality, freshness, and portion size, I’d say it’s fair. They don’t skimp on ingredients.
📍 Location: Super convenient—just a short walk from Thrissur railway station and KSRTC bus stand. Great for travelers or anyone with limited time.
📌 Tips for Visiting:
Go early (before 12:30 PM) to avoid waiting.
Biryanis sell out fast, especially the prawn and mutton varieties.
Takeaway parcels are a good option if you want to skip the crowd.
Don't expect fancy cutlery or interiors—this place is all about food, not frills.
⚠️ Things to Improve:
Better hygiene in restrooms.
Seating space feels a bit cramped during peak hours.
Some people may find it a little too...
Read moreI feel compelled to share my extremely disappointing experience with Hotel Sapphire's takeaway service. After hearing endless hype about their food, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the chicken biryani I ordered turned out to be an absolute disaster, and I can confidently say it was the worst biryani I have ever had in my life. The chicken in the biryani was unbelievably tough and chewy. It felt like I was attempting to gnaw through rubber instead of enjoying a tender and succulent meat. The quality of the chicken was abysmal, and it's clear that Hotel Sapphire doesn't care about sourcing high-quality ingredients for their customers. Comparing it to other restaurants in Thrissur, Hotel Sapphire's biryani doesn't even come close in terms of quality and taste. On top of the appalling food, I was shocked to discover that the cashier didn't bother giving me a bill for my order. This lack of professionalism and transparency is inexcusable. Customers deserve to have proper documentation for their financial transactions, and Hotel Sapphire failed miserably in this regard.Overall, I strongly advise against wasting your time and money at Hotel Sapphire. Their chicken biryani is a complete disgrace, and the lack of a bill from the cashier only adds insult to injury. Thrissur has far better options available where you can enjoy a truly satisfying dining experience. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere. Please note that this review reflects my personal experience and opinion. Others may have different experiences, but based on my encounter, I cannot recommend Hotel Sapphire to anyone seeking quality food and...
Read moreWe ordered chicken fried rice here and we were shocked to find a mosquito in our food. When we showed it to the waiter who was attending us, he replied with atmost negligence and with "I don't care attitude" that it wouldn't have come in the cooked food and blamed us that it could've been there while we were eating at our table. In addition he didn't even care to respond/apologize and went away like, do whatever you want.
Then we went to the cashier to pay our bill. We weren't asking for any deduction in our bill. But we had to inform him so that we could get a proper response atleast. He stared at us for 5 seconds and he was just quietly showing us the QR code insisting us that we pay the bill. He didn't even speak. He neither bothered to ask us about the issue nor clarify what had happened with the waiter. He never uttered any word and was keep on showing us the QR code to pay the bill at any cost as if we were asking for a cancellation of the bill. We couldn't do anything more. We paid our bill and left the place wishing that we had never gone there.
Finding mosquito in our food wasn't our problem. Generally these kind of things happen in hotel industry. Sometimes we find some unpleasant things in our food and we're okay with removing that portion and eat/not eat the food depending upon our mindset. But the issue is the negligence and not caring to explain or apologize and not even address the issue and not even seeking an explanation from the waiter about the issue. This is our problem. We were so disappointed by that attitude.
Hope people go here, have good food and have a good...
