I recently gave Sapphire Hotel in Thrissur another try, hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, it was another letdown. This time, I ordered the Chicken Tikka Biriyani, which turned out to be a disaster. The dish consisted of just three small pieces of boneless chicken buried under an overwhelming amount of rice. While the rice flavoring was passable, the dish was far from worth the ₹260 price tag. My friend also ordered an Egg Biriyani, priced at ₹200, which we both found to be heavily overpriced. Considering that a decent Chicken Biriyani can be found for under ₹200 at many places in Kerala, it's clear that Sapphire is riding on hype rather than delivering quality. We also tried the Soda Lime, which was good but priced at ₹40—yet another example of overpricing. While the drink was refreshing, it still felt like another way to squeeze extra money from customers. Overall, the experience was far from satisfying, and for the price, it's simply not worth it. This will be my last visit to Sapphire Hotel. ______ December 2023 review: Had very average experience with the well known Sapphire restaurant. Felt like its overhyped as the highly rated biriyani turned out to be a normal average biriyani that we get from any shops in Kochi or Thrissur. Tried their porotta along with veg kuruma also, and i didnt feel anything special with their porotta also. Overall a large space to dine which is well maintained in the thrissur city. There are some large varieties of juices and shakes in the menu which is the only plus point i felt after eating from there.

One of the reputed hotels adjacent to KSRTC bus station and near Thrissur Railway Station, though an old one they modify and upgrade the seating arrangements there. Presently it has a very large hall, new wash rooms etc. The quality of food is good and consistent, the owners take special care in providing good service to customers. At times the place is so crowded that it tells upon your comfort level, can't help it. Ordered Chicken Biriyani which they are famous for. I have eaten Chicken biryani twice and it was super tasty.. will visit again next time when I will visit my husband native Thrissur, Kerala. Ge take nw for sapphire biriyani for first time Even the place is large enough to accommodate many people and the place was hygienic The chicken pieces were in good size. The location and the dining was pretty good. Every time it is a crowdy area. But the restaurant have much area to accomadate everyone 🙌🏻 Everyone must try the biriyani from here. I tried some porotta and starter Currie's also. That also very tasty 😍 They are trying there best for serving custumers

One of the oldest and most popular biryani spots in Thrissur, this restaurant near the KSRTC bus stand and railway station has long been a favourite among locals and travellers. I've visited multiple times for both dine-in and takeaway, and the quality has remained consistently impressive. Originally a medium eatery, it has grown significantly over the years and is now always bustling with customers and no reservations accepted. Their biryani stands out with its rich aroma and perfect blend of spices. On our recent visit, we tried the fish curry meals, chicken fry, beef fry, and chicken biryani. Everything was delicious, authentic, and well-prepared. The fish curry with coconut deserves a special mention. The restaurant is exceptionally clean, with prompt and efficient service. The staff is attentive, and the presence of many waiters ensures minimal wait time. Prices are reasonable considering the quality, and there's a parking lot a short walk away. Verdict: Highly recommended for a satisfying and authentic Kerala meal.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ A Legendary Biryani Destination in Thrissur! Hotel Sapphire isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an institution. It carries decades of biryani tradition and is a go-to spot for both locals and visitors. If you're a true biryani lover, this place deserves a spot on your culinary map.

🫓 Food: I came here specifically for the biryani, and it lived up to the hype. The chicken biryani was fragrant, subtly spiced (not overpowered by masala), and the rice was perfectly cooked—light, long-grained Siliguri rice, not the usual sticky stuff you get elsewhere. The meat was tender and flavorful, cooked in the “dum” style, which really locks in the flavor. No reheating, no shortcuts. You can taste the freshness.

🪑 Ambience: This is not a luxury restaurant, so don’t expect a fine-dining setup. The interior is basic and functional, with old-school furniture and a bit of a retro vibe. It can get very crowded, especially during lunch hours, so be prepared for a wait if you show up between 12:30 and 2:00 PM. The washrooms could be cleaner—that’s one area where they really need to improve.

👨‍🍳 Service: Staff were polite, efficient, and knew how to handle a rush. Food arrived quickly, even though the place was packed. Not overly friendly or chatty, but definitely efficient.

💸 Value for Money: Prices are a bit on the higher side for a non-AC eatery, with biryanis starting around ₹180–₹250. That said, considering the quality, freshness, and portion size, I’d say it’s fair. They don’t skimp on ingredients.

📍 Location: Super convenient—just a short walk from Thrissur railway station and KSRTC bus stand. Great for travelers or anyone with limited time.

📌 Tips for Visiting:

Go early (before 12:30 PM) to avoid waiting.

Biryanis sell out fast, especially the prawn and mutton varieties.

Takeaway parcels are a good option if you want to skip the crowd.

Don't expect fancy cutlery or interiors—this place is all about food, not frills.

⚠️ Things to Improve:

Better hygiene in restrooms.

Seating space feels a bit cramped during peak hours.

Some people may find it a little too...

I feel compelled to share my extremely disappointing experience with Hotel Sapphire's takeaway service. After hearing endless hype about their food, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the chicken biryani I ordered turned out to be an absolute disaster, and I can confidently say it was the worst biryani I have ever had in my life. The chicken in the biryani was unbelievably tough and chewy. It felt like I was attempting to gnaw through rubber instead of enjoying a tender and succulent meat. The quality of the chicken was abysmal, and it's clear that Hotel Sapphire doesn't care about sourcing high-quality ingredients for their customers. Comparing it to other restaurants in Thrissur, Hotel Sapphire's biryani doesn't even come close in terms of quality and taste. On top of the appalling food, I was shocked to discover that the cashier didn't bother giving me a bill for my order. This lack of professionalism and transparency is inexcusable. Customers deserve to have proper documentation for their financial transactions, and Hotel Sapphire failed miserably in this regard.Overall, I strongly advise against wasting your time and money at Hotel Sapphire. Their chicken biryani is a complete disgrace, and the lack of a bill from the cashier only adds insult to injury. Thrissur has far better options available where you can enjoy a truly satisfying dining experience. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere. Please note that this review reflects my personal experience and opinion. Others may have different experiences, but based on my encounter, I cannot recommend Hotel Sapphire to anyone seeking quality food and...

We ordered chicken fried rice here and we were shocked to find a mosquito in our food. When we showed it to the waiter who was attending us, he replied with atmost negligence and with "I don't care attitude" that it wouldn't have come in the cooked food and blamed us that it could've been there while we were eating at our table. In addition he didn't even care to respond/apologize and went away like, do whatever you want.

Then we went to the cashier to pay our bill. We weren't asking for any deduction in our bill. But we had to inform him so that we could get a proper response atleast. He stared at us for 5 seconds and he was just quietly showing us the QR code insisting us that we pay the bill. He didn't even speak. He neither bothered to ask us about the issue nor clarify what had happened with the waiter. He never uttered any word and was keep on showing us the QR code to pay the bill at any cost as if we were asking for a cancellation of the bill. We couldn't do anything more. We paid our bill and left the place wishing that we had never gone there.

Finding mosquito in our food wasn't our problem. Generally these kind of things happen in hotel industry. Sometimes we find some unpleasant things in our food and we're okay with removing that portion and eat/not eat the food depending upon our mindset. But the issue is the negligence and not caring to explain or apologize and not even address the issue and not even seeking an explanation from the waiter about the issue. This is our problem. We were so disappointed by that attitude.

Hope people go here, have good food and have a good...
