Long post with review on AC and non-AC
Please note this is an accommodation from Guruvayoor Devaswom and not a resort or property where you expect luxury, remember the purpose of visit is to get a glimpse of Lord.
POSITIVE comments This is barely 300 m from the temple. They have a outsourced restaurant at the ground floor, which serves decent vegetarian options three times a day. They have a tea shop run by the restaurant opening at 5 AM so that devotes can have early morning tea and snacks. they have a lift as well as wheelchair access which I feel is critical requirement at a pilgrimage related rest house. Online booking is the best way to reserve your room. (see pic for details.)
NEGATIVES Well, the purpose of the visit is temple visit but in case you love watching TV before you go to sleep, forget it the connectivity is terrible. We unfortunately got a first floor non-AC room and unfortunately could not sleep because the noise from the restaurant which is just below our room 617 kept us awake all through the night. The tea shop closes at around 11 and opens by five and in between they do all the cleaning work so we could hear the vessels being cleaned all through the night .
So you can be assured that they are serving food on cleaned plates.
3 BED NON AC ROOM large decent clean rooms with a decent washroom. The beds were nice and firm, but the linen on the bed was not very welcoming including the pillow covers. They do not provide toiletries as well as towels, so please prepare accordingly when you select a non-AC room. Can accommodate five adults easily.
3 BED AC ROOM Everything is same as a three bed no AC room, except that they have very good bedsheets, blankets and duets on the bed. They provide towels and toiletries. Also, they provide a bottle of water. Can accommodate five...
Read moreThe experience was pathetic. Booked a 5 bed Non A/C room. 4 out of the 5 members arrived in the afternoon and checked in. After, temple visit they went to attend a function around 30 kms away. Me, the 5th person came at 09:00 PM while the others went out. They didn't keep the keys in reception as they didn't know I was coming. Even, if they knew I was coming, they couldn't have kept the keys in the reception as there policy doesn't allow them to keep the keys (this is what one guy in the reception told me when I reached). So, I went and asked whether they could open the door with the spare key, so I can rest. I came after a 4 hour bike ride through heavy rain. Every lodge must have a spare key. But, that one guy in the reception told me they do not have spare key and it is not their problem. He also told me they also don't keep the keys of customers while they go out.
Then I asked, so what shall I do till they come back, and he was like do whatever you want I don't care, that kind of attitude. He made me wait 1:30 minutes until my family came back. I was soaking wet.
Also asked another guy in the reception whether there is any vehicle washing center nearby, as I have a vehicle pooja tomorrow. He was like not even responding properly, he said no he doesn't know any nearby and just walked by without letting me ask anymore.
With the room. Spacious and all. But, only 3 wall fans in three spots for 5 bed. No proper air is getting. These fans are a waste. Only one water bottle for 5 person room. No towel. Bedsheets are filthy. Very dirty.
The only good thing about this lodge is the proximity to temple. Remaining all is a waste. The staffs (front desk) are...
Read moreThis review is in behalf of 14 of us. I always stay here when I visit Guruvayur as it's nearby to the temple which is the only advantage, the last I had been here was 3-4 yrs back but time shows true colours, Had visited there recently, If you are looking for a peaceful ambience or devotional vibes, I would hardly suggest this place bcoz at first the staffs were worst here, Covid Norms are not followed, you can see the staffs and management wandering around without masks, finally had to ask them to wear it. If you are looking for a service, it's better to do it on your own but if you ask me then why this place? You need to search the answer for this. But I would recommend an improvement hereafter by re-staffing few people in reception than for the pilgrims to spoil their vacation by arguing with these kind of people. With respect to the place, I would like to share an experience, We took 3 AC rooms for 3 families, with respect to the price, AC' s are not working especially the remotes 2 out of 3, washrooms are worst, When we seeked for service, the staffs were arrogant inspite we had family with us including elderly people, neither they were willing for a room change or to get it fixed, all they could do from their end was to use abusive language and state one of us to be drunk on which our patience was tested and had to take a video of the entire things happened there to file a case with the help of locals. Was just wondering how this could have gone worst if the video was not there as a proof!! Overall a very bad experience with the staffing specifically , Repeating once again, This review is in behalf...
