Puthens Clifton Inn — Hotel in Kerala

Off all the hotels I have stayed their service is worst and represent a cheap mentality of training imparted. I stayed in this hotel for 6 days. Usually on travel I don't carry money ,I checked in there at around midnight the attender there insited on outright advance for my stay as if I will run away I paid him cash and for remaining 100rs he swiped my debit card !!.. I am forced to say it represents a very cheap mentality of not only staff but also it's owner. I then paid bulk amt for next 4 days as is my practice and then again on 5th day they started crying for money which I gave them. Finally on the last day they were unable to provide me bill for my stay and then they did all the gimmick in consultation with the owner and printed wrong bill and again after another half hour they finally gave me proper bill. This hotel is just adjacent to alcohol selling outlet. They don't have in house restaurant. Puthens inn kottayam is 200 m from railway station and 50m from nagampadom pvt bus stand||A small property though well maintained||They provide simple and tasty breakfast||The only hitch is that they don't offer 24hrs check in {12 pm to 11 am counts as a day}||While this may be acceptable in a resort, its totally pathetic in a hotel mainly used by transit people||I arrived in kottayam to attend a friends marriage at 5 am, and left by 5 pm. According to the rules of this hotel, i have to pay 2 days rent; ie 2 days rent for 24 hrs. Finally, the hotel people suggested that I check out b4 11 am. I checked out at 9 am itself. After much pleading i was allowed the use of a room in the evening for all of 20 minute to fresh up before the return journey||Effectively i paid a days rent to stay for 4 hours, 30 mins||Management to change policies, as almost every other HOTEL offers the convenience of 24 hrs check-in||It has parking to accommodate 3 cars maximum||You can always use railway...

Our visit to Puthens Clifton Inn was short-lived. Just after descending from Kottayam Railway station, we had two options to go to that were close by. We decided to see the place first before proceeding to Hotel Mali International. The hotel rooms are elegant and offer good value for money. The receptionist is too immature to handle the guests and is rude to the core. So, even though we could get at least 10% lesser price room at 10% discount at Clifton Inn, we chose to walk off to Hotel Mali International. The owner knows little English but overlook the ill-tempered attitude of the reception. Visit at your own risk.
