TONICO CAFE — Restaurant in Kerala

I had been a loyal customer of the tonico cafe since the day it opened, and even though the service and food waned day by day, i did enjoy it and was a regular customer whenever i came to Kottayam. I was a customer even before my wedding and now I take my two kids there. But last time i visited,their service was terrible. They didn't provide quarter plates or any plates individually to have food and just served the main dish for us all to eat from. When i asked for plates,the serving boy was rude and was like, do you really need plates? I later complained to the manager about this incident and he told it's coz the place is crowded and so service got delayed and apologised.I too left it as a one off incident Yesterday i visited Tonico with my two kids, coz the elder one used to love their fries.Immedietly I noticed that the service had gotten worse, the servers less in number and they just stood there chatting without even providing the menu. When i rang the bell to call them, he just looked my side and went back inside.This was a weekday and the place was not rushed at all. So after a lot of delay,we ordered french fries,chicken fingers and an orange juice for my mom. The delay for food lasted around half an hour, which was tolerable and expected. But instead of orange juice, they got some iced tea by mistake which was taken away once we complained of the weird taste. The food, especially the pasta( which was top notch before) felt ridiculous with watery gravy this time. My kid too refused to eat the food and told he feels nauseous. At night, my son started vomiting multiple times and he couldn't even keep a glass of water down.currently he is ok coz of the medicines Kottayam peeps!! Please please be aware of the service and quality of food. It has gone to dogs now. Hopefully no one else has an experience like this and the owner decides to look into it and improve the quality. I have often gone there with my friends for eating some foods and drinking something and refresh. I think that this restaurant is very good. Because this restaurant has a lot of menus so I can eat a variety of foods in this restaurant. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager, our names were mentioned on the board and we were upgraded to the Paradise Suite. The staff was extremely friendly, the restaurant very flexible (appreciate this!) and the restaurant supervisor deserves a special thanks. We had two great evenings here, which obviously also added up to the experience.

The second day we did a city ride which was guided by Raj, who works as a waiter in the hotel as well. I truly enjoyed walking the three of us through the city. The scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to walk in such a nice and peaceful environment. The natural bath on the end was a great way to end the trekking.

Note, this is not a star hotel or so, but the atmosphere is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for the general manager who does a great job here; a true sample of excellent...
