Undoubtedly the homestay is very good looking, but all that glitters is not gold.
(This is the review based on Room no. 5,6,7) Pros : Rooms were very nice. They are big, have all facilities like big mirror, Table-chair, LCD TV, king-sized bed, side tables and cupboard. Bathrooms were also very clean and have all necessary equipment’s like geyser and others. Ample car parking spaces where you can roam around in your free time. Nice complimentary breakfast – We had Sandwiches, Bread toast and baked beans, Puri sabji and Aloo Paratha in our 4 days of stay.
Cons : Not a kid’s friendly property. You have to pay fine if your kid throws some food grain on the bedsheet or do any kind of mischief and make some marks on it. They will recover necessary charges of cleaning from you. You can’t prepare kids food in an induction inside the room. You can use their kitchen and pay 100 RS/hour for preparing food with some other considerations. You can’t go out early morning because the main door of our floor was locked from outside. You will also be monitored for all your activities by a CCTV camera placed in the corridor. Sometimes you will feel that you are in a jail where you are paying a lot of money every day. Water pressure issues in toilet / no water in flush and hand shower in the morning. You can’t bath in the morning because water pressure in not up to the mark for the geyser to work. Food is very expensive. All chicken dish prices are 310 and you will get 2-3 pieces of chicken in it. Food taste is good and they try to maintain the hygiene by covering it up with a plastic paper. But those food are of restaurant style, and you can fall ill if consume every day. Home style cooking was not there. The rooms I mentioned is on another building and far from reception. You have to climb around 40 staircases for reaching there. We had elderly people with us (60-65 yrs of age) and they found it difficult to climb. There are electricity issues and the inverter is not capable of turning on geyser, heater or any plug points. You will face water problems also if electricity is not there. If you wash your cloths in bathroom you will be penalised. Even they don’t have laundry facilities if you are staying there for less than 3 days. We asked to turn the corridor lights on at the night but one lady attendant turned it off in front of us and went outside after locking us all from outside. This kind of rude behaviour we had not expected.
To be precise, we had not enjoyed our stay in this homestay (27th March – 31st March). 2800 is a very costly option out there and it is better to search for some other hotel/homestay if you really want to enjoy your vacation. There is no issue with the property, but the way the people of the homestay look like to their guests and investigate all the activities of the guests...
Read moreCentrally located property, its very near to Police Bazar. The only thing is that, its located on a very steep hill, with a very small road. The stay was very comfortable and affordable. We stayed for a couple of days. We were given 2 options for rooms, we chose the first one near the reception. Rooms were very clean though, bathrooms were very clean and well kept. We had a small balcony outside our room and we loved it. Basking in the early morning sun, both my husband and my kid spent the morning hours there. Breakfast was complimentary and we were offered cornflakes and milk, bread, butter and jam and omlette for breakfast with a cup of tea and coffee. Quite a simple one, yet satisfying. Enjoyed the view from the place. You can almost see half of Shillong from there. The night view was good too, with lights blinking away. Cozy and a comfortable homestay stay. Spoke to someone called Banntei, who was probably managing the property, a quite soft spoken chap, who tried his best to help us around and suggest some good eateries for dinner. There was load-shedding on the day we arrived, so he also provided us some hot water. Small gestures matter.! There was also place for Parking, we parked our car inside the property itself. Can be recommended for people who love to explore and stay in quite, cozy places with clean rooms and also has a budget to...
Read moreIf you want to explore Laitumkhrah area then must visit to stay at Mid-Pine Homestay. Quite and cosy vibes you will feel. Vintage vibes in the Reception area. Banri is the awesome host with a beautiful smile on her face. She will help you in every possible way. We asked for help many times, and everytime she was there to help us. Thank you sooo much Banri for you warm behavior. Now it's come to food and breakfast. In dinner we ordered plain Rice, yellow Dal and Omelette. We just loved it. When we ate we felt peace. Yes we ordered simple and basic items but sometimes that's also worked and you feel like bless after having it. Now breakfast it was Complimentary. We ordered Aloo paratha with curd, Maggi, toast and butter, black tea and milk tea. Aloo paratha is soooo soft and you will get the stuffing of Aloo in the whole paratha not only in the middle portion. Maggi just need one word to describe Awesome, they added capsicum, onion, chilly to it, to enchant the taste. Black Tea and Milk Tea was so so in taste. It was not that good as compared to the other food items. We had a Peaceful experience in stay. At night we will get hear the sound of cricket. Cool breezing wind will blowing. Very nice experience. Next time when we will come to Shillong definitely we will again...
