From the moment of arrival it didn't feel very 5 star. 3 year old was tired and hungry from travelling, asked if we could get a piece of fruit (booking had breakfast, I would have been happy to pay if that was the concern). Was told, "there are some shops close by here". Not 5*
Upgraded our room to a sea view, but didnt mention they have smoking/non smoking rooms. The room had a damp and stale smell, incredibly stuff. We were told to wait till the next day for a new room. If they told us about the smoking rooms we would have waited on arrival for a non smoking room. Arriving as a family for 4 with 2 small children I would have hoped for a little common sense and consideration to ensure we don't get placed in such a room. When we were moved rooms the front desk had the audacity to ask us to move as soon as possible as the move caused inconvenience to the hotel (two rooms held for a small amount of time). "Please if you can move in the next 30mins". It was the afternoon with both kids asleep for naps (I mentioned this but it fell on deaf ears). The day after (specifically marked non smoking yay) they failed to let us know they have 3-4 days of weddings. Loud music and celebrations till late into the night, again a little consideration and we would have been happy to move for a room that was less disrupted by the noise. No mention of any events during stay. We had to leave early (5AM) to check out so I went to the front desk to settle my bill the evening before. I was again asked to settle in the morning because, "we also need to check the room and mini bar so we can settle it all at the same time." Only when I insisted that I am down here already and they can check the minibar tomorrow morning when I check out and settle any remaining payments (there were none as we never used the mini bar), they agreed to take payment and remainder (if any) the following morning. Check out was also a pain considering I had settled etc up front and was down by 5AM. 2 staff one doing nothing, the other helping another guest. Only after asking if it will be long as we have a flight to catch after waiting for 15min, was I told "yes all good" by the gentleman serving another guest. Not a single "how was your stay", "would be lovely to have you back", "any feedback" etc. Hence the long review here. I have more but Google has a character limit.
The hotel has 4 restaurants. For one (the Asian inspired one) we were told it was open from 1200-2300. Yet one evening we arrived at 1500 and were told no sir it isnt open until 1900. Even the signage on the door was incorrect. I also went down to ask for a menu one evening to order room service, they could have taken my order there, but no. I was told please ring from your room. I was already there ready to just order to my room. Now the great parts. The people. Specifically the staff in the Aqua restaurants, the "bell boys", and the house keeping staff. Praveen (the Aqua restaurant manager), and his team (Dinesh S, Aarti & Trupti) were amazing. Very accommodating. Always helpful. Attentive, and super friendly. Once they saw our "patterns" they already came to us (and the kids) without having to ask every morning. This is what I expected from a 5*. House keeping team with Parshuram and Narayan were also fantastic. Again, very attentive, friendly and always at hand to help. The "bell boys", staff at the doors (greeting you as you come and go from the hotel) and the amazing guard at the beach entrance were always cordial, happy to have a conversation and make you feel welcome. In all honesty the people mentioned above really made our stay a 5* experience. If not for them we were ready to forgo our booking and just find a hotel elsewhere for the rest of our stay. So a huge thank you to all those mentioned, and your teams for the small moments of 5* at Sun n Sands. The rest of the experience (front of house / desk staff) rooms / lack of consideration etc etc etc really took away from staying at Sun n Sands.

Read moreHi there I visited Mumbai for some offical meeting I booked the room from 18th September to 19th September. I landed on front desk and I saw a receptionist and I asked here that I have a room booked under my name. She was very low and seems like she was disturbed , never smile no emotion nothing.. She told yes and asked me the room will take 1 hour to get ready I said ok and also she was not speaking clearly like vocal disturbance was there. I thought never mind, I explored hotel and it was very good property to be .....I liked the hotel.. Went to beach side of hotel and then I went to gym I was a step away from entering the gym the trained came to me and asked room no..I said I am about to get my room I am here to check the things he wondered and said ok , and then swimming pool no interaction with staff so can not say any thing.
Got the room on time as she said .... Room is very good well maintained....with all amenities...
So I went for the meeting came back to hotel by evening and went again outside for late lunch around 5ish I had my lunch went to hotel beach it was all fun...
Then my office friend asked me to come and meet for a drink and talk, I said ok sure come down, friend came down around 8ish and landed in the lobby. Then I got a call, it was duty manager on the call and asked me that do I have any expected guest I said yes ...DUty manger said me to come down as meeting in the room is not allowed beacuse room was booked for single occupancy, I asked the manger that what is the issue for couple of hours won't stay the night and if any issue with couple of hours, we can pay for the other occupancy, and also we had offered all ids which were required at the time of ccheckin, but denied and said the management rules are set to be followed ,, he said I can not allow .... I felt insulted my friend said Why this hotel..
Then later around 8:30 I went to gym again same thing happened I did not even entered the gym and some other trainer came with heavy mustach and asked me room no... Asking room no is not the issue issue is the timings and the way it is asked, every time any of the hotel staff asked me for the room number it was like I am an intruder .........NO HOSPITALITY at all......
And then late night 11ish I was trying to sleep the nose started coming from the bed side wall it was coming differently and not timely I thought some issue with the next room guest will be sorted and I try to sleep harder But even after 2 hours it did not stopped. So I called and said the same thing and the staff came to check and I went outside as well and checked next to my room it was some staff area and staff was shifting things from here and there. After all that it stopped and I slept ....
Same thing happened in the morning I went to buffet area to check what's on the menu. And the guy asked my room number rudely and I went to gym again the other guy without the mustach who earlier asked my room number ,, asked again So I did some running and I came back to buffet area and I entered and again some other guy in the restaurant asked me the room number.....
So now you can image how many times I gave my room number.. I felt like WHY am I even here ......,.......

Read moreWhat supposed to turn into a memorable experience and exciting, it turn out to be a disastrous and despicable experience, I am regular and frequent traveler to mumbai City, been to all the best and beautiful places, this time my Fiancee decided to surprise me by inviting me to experience this place, as we arrived we were so well greeted and warm welcomed by frontline stuff at the door, as we entered.....my fiance choose to seat at the beach side of the restaurant, so we could experience the fresh night breeze and enjoy some good drinks and food, place didn't seem so busy, however our first impression, servers were running like headless chicken not knowing what they were doing, even after it took long to get us seated , our drinks orders took long to arrive, not mentioning the fact I and my partner we ordered still water, we were served tap water which I did not like and ordered, server did not give recommendations as per the drinks menu and food, its like we were wasting their time, for everything we had to wait longer than expected, even though outlet not busy, when our drinks finally arrived we placed an order of a Beef tenderloin steak w/hollandaise sauce served w veg medium temperature, server did not again give recommendations (as expected for a 4star hotel) no time waiting for the food being ordered etc....we were so patient that we waited about 25min, and when we asked the server no one knew how much time the food would take at that point I got so disappointed and irritated I requested to see the manager in the floor : MR Keishaf, what a poor and disappointing manager he is, instead of resolving and making our experience better, he kept in being apologetic all the times and saying he will remove the item from the bill, like seriously????is this what 4 star hotel manager deals with it's prestigious guests??? No problem solving and solution, instead throwing the ball to the other staff, that is pathethic, Mr Keishaf I don't know where you did your training for management but your junior stuff SAMIR was way too much better than you, and I am not here to teach ppl how to do their job, I mean this is a 4 star , and we choose to come and spend our money there we expect service, otherwise we could have gone to a cafe nearby or a bazaar. KEISHAF(THE MANAGER) YOU ARE A SUCH A disappointment, I expected more from u. The saviour of the day goes to Samir, only one who was courteous, humble, hospitality, smiling, very helpful, and attentive to my needs and of my Fiancee, I will definetely hire someone like him, and of course the doorman and the security were the nice people.
