The experience was "Okay".

Yes, one gets to have the local food with affordable price. I would like to visit again sometime. But, How authentic the taste is?

We had ordered Chicken kasa, Prawn Masala, Fish Fry, Chuna Macha Bhaja, Two Phakhala Thali and two Phkala rice (only the rice).

The chicken kasa (4 star) was good, but I couldn't real felt whether it was cooked with Musturad oil or any other oil.

The prawn Masala (3 star)- It was okay. there were a lot of masala, which we didn't even touch. We just ate the prawn. A prawn bhaja addition could be better (that was not in the menu). The same feedback about the oil.

Fish fry (2 star)- This had a lot of fried oil. Really, please replace this with Fish besara bhaja.

Chuna macha bhaja (4 star)- taste was good. but there were lot o onions, which is not necessary at all.

The badi chura and mix bhaja- were deep fried. Not authentic at all.

In general, Odiya's - don't deep fry their side items. We tawa fry it and use less of Oil. That's what we are knows for (Sarala Khadya...

Odisha Niwas offers an authentic and delightful experience for those craving traditional Odia cuisine. The lunch spread is a perfect representation of Odisha's rich culinary heritage, featuring a variety of dishes that are both flavorful and wholesome.

The thali, with its balance of rice, dal, vegetables, and the iconic Pakhala, is not only satisfying but also a refreshing take on regional food. The use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients truly enhances the taste, and the spices are used in just the right measure, allowing the natural flavors of the dishes to shine.

The service is warm and attentive, reflecting the hospitality that Odisha is known for. The ambiance of Odisha Niwas adds to the charm, giving diners a sense of being at home in a serene and comfortable environment.

In summary, Odisha Niwas is a great place to enjoy a wholesome, traditional Odia meal, especially for those who appreciate authentic regional flavors. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore or revisit the rich...

State Guest House Easily accessible.Didn't stay . Only went to eat at the Niwas Canteen.Excellent food at very reasonable price. We tried the Veg thali . It had One daal ,two vegetables and a lovely seviyan kheer.Mildly spiced food just like homemade food. When we were leaving,The manager informed us that they were to get fresh crabs from Lake Chilka so went again the next day. This time ordered Crab masala with rice and Prawn masala with rice. Both preparations excellent Again mildly spiced and yummy. We also tried the desserts. The rosogolla are the best I've had in Delhi I think. They also had this special steamed dessert made of Chaina and caramelized sugar - I think it's Chaina Podda. Wow tasting dessert .Have also bought Khaja and another yummy looking dessert. They have promised to make us mustard fish next time we visit so we're definitely going...

We only went for the food at Odisha Niwas. Quintessential Odia food. We've been there multiple times. We ordered the following this time: 1. Mutton thali 2. Chicken thali 3. Fish thali 4. Veg thali All the dishes were delectable. I brought my friends who are from Bihar and they loved the chicken and the mutton gravy. They even said that this was just like home cooked meals and they would definitely try and come again to try the other dishes. Highly recommended to not just Odia people, but to all others who want to try and explore cuisines from different parts of the country and are open to, different taste profiles.
