Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for four days during a trip to spend time with friends in Delhi. There were many highlights to our stay here as well as a number of disappointments. ||The good:|There is no doubt that this is a 5-star luxury hotel and the attention from everyone who works here is unmatchable. The breakfasts are excellent with an impossible variety of options. We also love how openly LGBTQ+ friendly the hotel is, though perhaps that was the case for Pride month more than at other times. Either way, this place was so luxurious and well worth the rather reasonable rates.||They also left us a very personalized and thoughtful gift for us one day, for our anniversary. I've never had a hotel go to such lengths. Most places will just give you a bottle of champagne and some chocolates with a generic note. Not this place - kudos for that level of attention.||The not-so-good:|On our second of four days here, they called us to let us know there was some plumbing issue and that we were "being upgraded" for the remainder of our stay. We were already leaving for the day and packed our bags so that they would move to our new room while we were gone. We had a vase full of fresh flowers that i made a point of putting in the middle of our luggage to ensure that they would move it as well. When we returned in the evening, we found our new room to actually be worse than our first. The view was worse; the ceiling was peeling, and there were signs of wear and a number of imperfections throughout. Sadly, despite my efforts, they didn't move my vase with flowers after all.||On our last morning there, we were enjoying a restful sleep in what we had hoped would be a romantic morning, but we were startled by a man on a swing outside of our window. He was doing some sort of maintenance work starting at 9:30 am and proceeded to loudly drill and hammer for the next two hours. We, of course, closed the curtains, but the reverberating drilling and hammering were so loud that we really couldn't believe that the hotel would impose such an inconvenience to its guests without any warning or apology. We checked out rather annoyed at our ruined romantic morning and with a rather poor taste in our mouths. Ideally, we would have just stayed in our first room and not have the frustrations that followed in the second half...
Read moreStayed here for three nights.
The location is great. Check in was fine. The room itself was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping were quick to respond to requests for more drinking water and realising we got through quite a lot ensured there were sufficient bottles each day. The beds had mattress toppers which kept slipping and the sheets were not big enough so the mattress was constantly exposed.
The bathroom had no shaving/make-up mirror and there was insuffient lighting to be able to use the other mirrors. There was a lovely large shower cubicle but the overhead shower was partially blocked and when the bathroom door was shut it was obvious that there was no attention to detail as far as cleanliness and general maintenance was concerned with untidy sealant in the corners where dirt was trapped giving the bathroom a grimy feel. Good range of toiletries with everything we needed.
Food in the multi cuisine restaurant was good with a big choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner but they should stop serving paranthas as these were undercooked and inedible. The restaurant area was well maintained with regular cleaning of food areas and staff were excellent.
Cocktails in the ground floor bar were over-priced and poor. Apparently they only use canned juice and not fresh and the alcohol content seemed low. A disappointing experience.
Checkout was slow and inefficient.
All in all, I would say staff/service was close to five star but the hotel itself is no more than an overpriced four star with some...
