MAISON SAKEE — Hotel in Puducherry

We had a truly disappointing experience with Maison Sakee, and I feel compelled to share this so that future guests are aware before making a booking.

Despite pre-intimating our arrival time well in advance, we were shockingly informed just before reaching that our reserved room was not ready due to some vague and random reason. To make matters worse, we were casually asked to “adjust” for two hours. This was completely unacceptable given our situation — we had driven all the way from Bangalore, starting at 5:30 am, and were traveling with two infants who were understandably tired, hungry, and exhausted after such a long journey.

Instead of honoring the commitment of a ready room, the staff attempted to placate us by putting us into a so-called standby arrangement in an adjacent property. This turned out to be an extremely shabby hotel with a cramped, tiny room. We were a group of 4 adults and 2 infants — it was obvious that this arrangement served no purpose and was an outright disregard for our prior booking and communication.

Overall, what should have been the welcoming start to our vacation in Pondicherry became a frustrating ordeal. The lack of accountability, the insensitivity towards guests traveling with infants, and the poor standards of the alternative arrangement left us with a very bitter impression of this homestay. For the premium positioning that Maison Sakee claims, such treatment of guests is simply inexcusable.

I stayed at this home stay for 3 nights and the experience was decent until we faced an unexpected issue with our bus, which required maintenance and caused a delay in our checkout.

The home stay owner, however, took advantage of our situation and demanded an exorbitant amount for the extra few hours we stayed. We were not even using any additional facilities or services, just waiting for our bus to be repaired.
