Baker Street, the French delicacy concept store in Pondicherry isn’t popular namesake. The place actually delivers some stellar baked goods that is world class, if not fabulously French. The menu of this indoor cafe is a mix of French sweet and savoury goodies, ranging from baguette sandwiches, croissants, eclairs, macaroons, burgers, pizza, quiche, and much more. I was overwhelmed with the items on display and could not decide what to have and what not to. After much thought, I decided to pack a creamy chicken baguette sandwich, some decadent chocolate eclairs, a mixed bag of French macaroons, to go. We reached chennai that evening and reserved these for our dinner. The chicken baguette sandwich was a deliciously made creamy chicken generously spread on the mini baguette slice, with some lettuce for crunch. It was absolutely delicious, with the hard baguette competing with the superbly well made creamy chicken chunks, a must try. The Chocolate Eclair was a decadence in every bite, creamy, chocolatey, slightly eggy, but a marvellous dessert, another must try. The macaroons were okay, a decent version, probably I expected a little more than what wifey makes at home. We duck pick up some jabs with interesting combinations like apple cinnamon, again a must recommend to pick up a few. What was not so pleasant was the non-French cafe ambience, the crowd and the staff, who were doing too many things than focusing on one customer at a time. Overall #apjprecommends Baker Street heavily as a must visit in Pondicherry Definitely coming back to try their wide menu in both savoury and decadent desserts, and you must too Covid Update - There were transparent sheets and acrylic barriers to keep the walk-in public and the food, all staff were masked and with gloves while handling food.

Perhaps, this is the only Cafe in White town which truly deserves and justifies the high ratings in Google. Most other cafes that I visited in this area are simply overrated and overhyped. The food here is pricey, but it is very fresh and the ingredients are of highest quality. The quantity is also decent. Loved their Croissants, Sandwich, Chocolatine and Coffee. Next day, I also got some of their Macrons, Eclairs and Chocolates to go for my family and it was over in minutes. They stayed fresh even after a 5 hour drive on a Hot summer day. It's a partially self service place - You need to pick your food from the display, order ahead and wait at your table. Your food will be delivered at the table and you will be billed when you leave the place. The service was good and the people at the billing counter were friendly. The ambience was good too. Only turn off was their wash area. Their wash basin was under repair and they have fitted a hand faucet for washing the hands which kind of looked weird and gross. However, I am not lowering the 5 star rating because of that. Hope they fit a proper tap soon.

The food looks unreal in here- the sweets, the savouries and all. The gloss in some, the lighting and everything looks like a very fancy place and it is indeed. The price tags on them brings one to reality. Fancy French names which a common Indian might’ve heard only in cartoons or movies, but brought right in front of you! Haven’t been disappointed with any of the food that we’ve tried so far in maybe like our 10 odd visits. Even the simple vanilla ice cream has a nice rich flavour. But the place is super dooper expensive- take it like you’re in a Parisian bakery paying in rupees being served by Tamilians. The service is sooper dooper bad- with that sort of a pricing they could’ve done better at service. Fewer waiting staff than customers most of the time- poor attentiveness, general hurried and rude attitude etc. and sometimes plain outright cold. The seating area is limited to a few tables and it takes times to serve maybe as they’re almost always crowded. Their washroom which I had only recently noticed is a price of art- fancy plumbings and design- do take a leak 😅 Parking would be difficult to find on the roads. No valet parking. So plan accordingly.

A very busy place owing to its high popularity for desserts and confectionery items. They have a lot of options such as sandwiches, burgers, lasagne, cakes, pastries, macrons, Chocolates, icecreams etc. They are known for their French delicacies and so we tried the cheese quiche. The quiche was soft, it felt more like a baked block of scrambled eggs. The flavour of cheese was great and the quiche was really soft. We tried the cheesecake as well, which was a baked preparation. I personally did not enjoy the taste much. Also, since they are famous for their macrons, we did try a couple of flavours - basil and hazelnut. The taste was really good, but somehow they didn't do justice to the texture. The filling was more gooey and sticky to the roof of the mouth. I wouldn't say it's the best, but you can still try it out though. The items are a bit pricey, also you need to be quick with your order because there's a heavy rush, especially on the weekends. The service was okay, not very impressive.

This bakery is a well known one in Pondicherry and for a reason. There is a wide range of delicacies offered by them which encompass both sweet and savoury flavours. We tried the following: CHICKEN PONDINETTES: They are like mini chicken baguettes but are very high on flavour. The cheese tastes really well with the juicy and tender chicken pieces. CHOCO ECLAIRS: This is a no brainer. If you’re a sweet tooth, then you have to have this one. This too is not very big in size but delivers well on the taste. RAISIN CHOCO TWISTY: We ordered this one because the regular butter croissant wasn’t available. The fact that the staff had heated it before serving made sure that each layer of this mutated croissant was enjoyed to the fullest. One needs to have a lot of patience and resilience to enjoy the food here as it is super crowded. We visited this place on a Sunday and saw the rush in all its glory. Nevertheless, the food made the experience worth the wait.

Baker Street in Pondicherry is a concept store that is famous for its authentic French cuisine, from croissants and organic bread to pastries and baguettes. A must visit for all those sweet tooth out there. The moment you enter you want to have every item on the display. I was overwhelmed with the items on display and could not decide what to have and what not to. You haven't truly lived until you've stepped inside Baker Street, and trust me when I say this!! Everything is beautiful and delicious. Even the window display is irresistible. The best part? All of their products are 100% homemade. The service staffs are polite. The price is slightly on a higher side, but the moment you take a bite of what you ordered you’ll realize its word each penny you paid for! The bakery has great ambience and the menu has spread for both non-veg and veg folks. They offer take-away in a neat packaging. Parking will be a problem as the place is located on the main road.
