The Richmond Hotel — Hotel in Puducherry

My review after my stay today. A decent hotel with expansive rooms and beautiful decor.

Rooms: Very exquisite interiors with solid and comfortable beds. See pictures to know more. We booked a superior room, which was a bang for the buck. Shower knob didn't work and buckets were unavailable, had a tough time taking bath. Washing machine noise was constantly heard, 2 rooms were separated by a door - 3/5

Location & parking: located strategically at the heart of Pondicherry, Recommend you to park your car outside the hotel and walk down to key locations like beach or visit some cafe / pubs. You can park 2 cars outside the hotel + 5 bikes, very narrow road. - 4.5/5

Food: see photos of complimentary breakfast spread. Has 5 tables which can seat 20 people maximum. Most the dishes had garlic added, majority people i know shoo away from garlic. Sumptuous breakfast, not a lavish spread, with the right amount of oil, salt or sugar. Dosa and Omlete are made to order (part of breakfast) - 3/5

Amenities: Elevator was useful, well maintained. Had minibar, coffee tea sugar and water boiling pot in the counter. Secure doors. Dental kit, comb, biotic brand shampoo, soaps were in the bathroom (upmarket) - 4.5/5

Service: Room service was responsive, courteous and helpful. Front office welcome and check-out can be improved professionally. During checkout I was handed the bill without envelope and no feedback form was offered. Small things like these can go a long way. Security personnel was very courteous - 3/5

Price: Booked the superior room for 1 night for 4400 rupees, 3 days before my stay. Best deal ! Go for Goibibo! Accepts card / cash.

Overall : This hotel is part of Residency group of hotels. 4/5 VFM ! Would opt for The Richmond in my future stay @ Pondicherry! Recommended!

A Big shoutout to The Richmond team for bringing such a wonderful ambience and excellent hospitality during my short stay . The Residency hotel have embarked their trademark work by Collaborating with Richmond and providing wonderful services to their customer’s. It is built with wonderful and vibrant colours in White Town and gives exactly the French feel. Rooms are spacious and very clean .. Room services and their breakfast spread was top notch .. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and great customer service .. I took a superior room and extra bed , AC was in good working condition , WiFi connection was really fast , TV with setup box and mini bar with secured safe was provided . Would definitely stay again when I go to Pondicherry.. Must visit hotel with star quality to stay over with family...

Reviewing only the bar/restaurant part of The Richmond, which is known as Bistro Restaurant. The place is well maintained, clean, homely and boasts of polite and courteous staff.

The food here is pretty decent with a menu that is a bit generic (i.e not Creole enough or not french enough or not chettinad enough) but what they offer is cooked well and tastes very nice. The staff who are attentive and helpful need just a little better communication.

What I liked most about this bar is in spite of being in White Town, it is probably one of the cheapest places to get alcohol in a very family friendly setting. Also their serving size is 60ml, which is such a welcome sight in times like these.

Recommended if you want a nice familiar meal with cheap but great alcohol. I'll be returning to...
