Let me start with what I concluded and the other reviews here and on Tripadvisor etc. bear me out - Go there in a large group which is likely to order a lot of drinks and they will treat you really well - else...now you can go on to my review...... Terrible place. I don't usually like reviewing an eatery or hospitality outlet negatively because of the the hard work they do and what I believe the attitude of most of our countrymen is, to people in the hospitality business but this place is different - it was the other way round here in terms of bad attitude - horrible, horrible staff member attended to me and my two kids (not small kids mind you), told us we couldn't sit near the bar (really? I've been to zillions of bars, restaurants and beach shacks, in Pondicherry, all over India and abroad, if they allow kids and families, they WELCOME kids and families. This place 'allowed' us to grace their hallowed halls but welcome? The so-called server told us to sit in a separate area away from the main restaurant saying that area was for kids. I actually thought till then that it was nice of them to do that till lo and behold, a huge group of youngsters is seated right next to us in the 'kids area' and starts smoking galore - when I asked the server how that could be, his answer, smoking is permitted all over the outlet...??? then how come you have a designated kids area where you still allow smokers to sit? Turns out, this was all a load of baloney (ref, my first line of this review), I could see he was going to be totally uncooperative, I asked him to seat us away from the area (which was enclosed, mind you, unlike the main restaurant, so the smoke was actually thicker there as it all stayed in, they'd seated one other family with small kids too there.) and his answers never changed, all tables outside are reserved (another load of bs), that was his retort now..we had gone there to eat, at this point, we decided not to be humiliated any further by these rude imbecile. I and my kids carried our drinks to the main area, finished them quickly there on a table (with I actually fearing someone would come and ask us to get up from there any time and got right up to leave without eating. Buggers didn't have the courtesy to do anything about any of this, i actually marched up to the counter to pay my bill as didn't want to wait for my sever who seemed to be serving others just not us and asked him if I could see the owner to which i got the expected answer that he wasn't avlbl at the the time, then I paid and left, telling the billing clerk exactly what I thought of the place, no one said or did anything to recover the situation and later on i saw the buggers had actually had the nerve to charge us a 'Service Charge'! Wouldn't go there again and would never recommend to anyone - saw on google this place might be closed now - well, keep treating people this way and it closing doesn't come as...

Visited La Tendance recently and unfortunately had quite a disappointing experience. We entered around 10:30 PM, and although the restaurant was still open, the service made us feel extremely unwelcome.
I ordered a steak, which was oddly served with just some grated cabbage — no mashed potatoes or sautéed veggies, which are usually standard accompaniments. It felt incomplete and lacked both taste and presentation.
Worse was the attitude of the waiter. From the moment we sat down, he seemed in a hurry to wrap things up. By 11 PM, he had already placed the bill on our table and brought over the card machine — all without us asking. It was clear he wanted us to leave as soon as possible, which made the whole dining experience very uncomfortable. If the kitchen was about to close, they should have informed us before seating or taking our order.
Not the kind of service or quality I expected, and definitely not a place I’d recommend for a...
Read more#outsiders strictly not allowed#
I wanted to choose a rating below 1, but no option. I have been to this place twice in the last one year. but never got place to eat. The bearers are lousy and arrogant. They will ask you 'table for how many people' and then disappear. After some time you will see them serving other guests and not bothering about you, as though you are invisible. If you confront them for this strange behaviour, then they would ask you if you stay at their hotel. Even after you respond saying 'no', they will not tell you that they are 'not interested' serving you. They will just walk away. If the restaurant has a policy of serving only customers of a particular 'class' they should either mention it explicitly or have a sane attender at the door frisking you with all your questions before letting guests in. This way you will avoid...
