R L Hotel — Hotel in Puri

A big NO for this hotel! Never go for this hotel in Puri unless you want to spoil your vacation. I called the hotel staff on 1st November 2021 and wished to book a sea facing room from 25th December to 27th December, 2021 . They informed me that only one sea facing room is available on the 2nd floor and that is AC deluxe room and the tariff is Rs. 2100 per day. They told full payment to be given if I wish to book that room. I paid Rs. 6300 full in advance and got a confirmation mail from hotel for this booking. By this time they verbally informed me that full refund will be provided if I give prior notice. Now the drama started just the next day. The hotel staff called me and informed that they couldn't provide me that particular room as that was already booked from their Kolkata office!!!. They told me they will provide me a non AC sea facing room and I agreed to that too. They also informed that they would refund the extra money as non AC room tariff is less than AC room. I waited for the confirmation for 2 days. Then after 2 days when I messaged them they informed me that they booked a room for me and the tariff is now Rs. 3000 per day!! I denied to pay any extra money for room. Then they offered to arrange a room for me in other hotel @Rs.2100. I was highly disappointed and was forced to cancel my booking due to this behavior from their end. I gave a cancelation request mail and requested for the full refund on 5th November 2021. They informed that refund would be processed on 8th November and I would get it within 3/4 days. I called again on 11th November and they informed that I would get that on 12th November. I didn't get it and called again. This time they informed that I would get it on 15th November. I didn't get and messaged again. Finally I got back Rs. 6000 out of Rs. 6300 on 16 th November. When I asked about the rest of Rs. 300 as they promised for full refund, they replied "woh process main Kat gaye". After that I didn't argue more. The best thing is that I got my money back but I couldn't express the tension and mental harassment I faced this entire time. And I will not recommend this...

The Owner of this hotel does not even know how to treat customers and how to talk with a senior citizen being a senior citizen himself(he looked quite like). He is a perfect example of arrogant, unprofessional, ignorant, uncivilized piece of a person. We got our room 40 mins late from the check-in time. His manager left work, so the communication between me and the manager during the manager’s tenure(at the time of booking and advance payment) are invalid according to the owner. Basic amenities were unavailable like a hand-wash soap, towels. When we came to communicate regarding these unprofessionalism, he misbehaved with me as well as my father who is a senior citizen. During slight heated conversation he told us ‘abhi nikal denge’, asked my father to get out of the reception room. Being uncivilized himself telling me to respect the elders. Threatened us that he will call 5 odd people right now and do something to us. I had my parents and my wife with me during that time. And it was around 11 pm. Didn’t go for police station as it was quite late and as the next day was our return journey, we didn’t want to get involved in something which will cost some more days stay at puri. These are my experiences. The only positive point was the location of the hotel. Still will never recommend staying...

First the disadvantages: Room service needs utter improvement Daily room cleaning or change of bedsheets doesn't happens No drinking water in rooms ( we were told aqua guard not working) Hygiene needs improvement or to be properly & timely maintained. Few parts of the hotel is being repaired, hopefully the lighting will improve post that.

Now the advantages: Ease of access to Swargadwar market as the hotel is situated very near to Swargadwar Though all rooms may not provide direct sea view, partially you will see the sea from all the rooms. As its situated on marine drive, cross the road and you can access the vast unending sea beach. Best thing is the open terrace , in case you luckily get the rooms on terrace then you can enjoy the whole day just by sitting on terrace and watching the never ending waves hitting the sea beach without getting tired a single bit.
