Zostel Udaipur is located on the Lakeside of Swaroop Sagar Lake, which a part of Lake Pichola. It is around 25kms from Udaipur Airport ( Maharana Pratap Airport) and about 5kms from both Udaipur Bus Stand (Udaipole) and Udaipur Railway Station.
I checked on Friday night after taking an evening flight from Mumbai. The first thing you notice about Zostel Udaipur is that it is very cosy and curated according to Rajasthani culture. Me and my friend stayed in one of their lake facing private room and I must say it was very nice and clean with quite a big bathroom. The lake view was also nice and we dint feel the need for using a fan during the night. Zostel Udaipur is located on top of a small hill from where you get a nice glimpse of Lake Pichola. Some other notable pointers about Zostel Udaipur is they have group walks every evening like a Sunset City Walk or Bagore ki Haweli Tour.
Coming to the rooftop, They have a good rooftop restaurant overlooking the lake and the night view is simply peaceful and absorbing. The restaurant also offers Beer and good chinese food.
The Host Kishan was very cool with us and ever helpful for our needs or any queries. He even helped us plan out our itinerary for the next few days and also suggested nice options for Bike Rent.
The USP of Zostel Udaipur I felt was the common room which has a nice seating area with an adjacent Pool Table and loads of Card Games and Board Games with books to read as well..
Some of the closeby places you can visit from Zostel Udaipur would be Hathipole Market,City Palace, Gangaur Ghat,Ambrai Ghat,Lake Pichola and Jagdish Temple.
OVERALL, I felt Zostel Udaipur totally lived up to my expectations and it was a wonderful stay for me and my friend and would totally recommend it...
Read moreI was very excited for my stay at Zostel Udaipur, wanted to have new experience, new friends, I had booked a 4 bed ac dorm mixed , when i reached the location zostel was located step on incline but I had no issue with that (if u are travelling heavy u will face issues). Then I checked-in the process of which was easy, then I saw my room which was okay not so great not so bad. The playroom was definitely awful, their was only one pool stick the table was too close to wall on one side.
Then comes the main important part, I had two roomates one was a girl who was okay, and was a guy. Both came late at night the girl came in quitely at around 12:30 a:m and the guy around 1:30 a:m started to turn the lights on using the toilet with gate open. Yes you heard it right, there is no 11 pm noise restrictions its all a sham, at around 3:30 am their were a bunch of kids maybe who just had passed their 12th class were there playing pool and howling, and as I recovered from those sounds the guy in my room had an alarm for 4 am, which he has to no intention to wake up from, probably just wanted to disturb, so the CONCLUSION is if you have any interest in sleeping then simply avoid any kind of hostels- Zostel as they are a sham. The only positive of Zostel was its terrace it was beautiful, but service was a notch slower than what you should...
