The Backyard Café is one of those rare spots that makes you pause and breathe a little slower. Tucked away from the bustle of central Udaipur, it’s the perfect place to spend a quiet afternoon—reading, writing, or simply doing nothing at all.
🪴 Ambience & Setting What sets this place apart is its soft, thoughtful atmosphere. Sunlight streams through leafy corners, music hums gently in the background, and everywhere you look there’s something beautiful to take in—curated wall art, delicate bookmarks on tables, fresh hand-painted works, and retro textures that feel lived-in rather than styled. Few paintings drying in the sun made by my server herself, it spoke volumes. It feels like a space made by artists for daydreamers like me.
☕ Food & Drinks The menu is comfort-focused and satisfying. Iced coffee was spot-on for the summer afternoon, and the light bites were fresh and unpretentious—exactly what a place like this should serve. It’s the kind of food you don’t rush through.
💻 For Work, Rest, or Reflection With reliable Wi-Fi, minimal noise, and a respect for slow living, this café is ideal for digital work, journaling, or quiet introspection. No one's watching the clock. You can settle in and let time drift.
🤝 Staff & Service The team here is polite, low-key, and attentive without hovering. The energy matches the space—calm, respectful, and relaxed.
💬 Final Thoughts "The Backyard Café isn’t just a place to eat or work—it’s a little pocket of Udaipur where art, calm, and comfort meet. I left lighter, clearer, and just a little more inspired."

Read moreA very, very cozy and cute café with a beautiful rooftop view and soft music playing in the background. In the evening, they turn on warm string lights, and it becomes incredibly cozy. No mosquitoes or flies. The service is 100 out of 10 — super fast.
But the best part — I was looking at the menu and got a bit upset because I didn’t see my favorite dessert, gulab jamun. I mentioned it to the guy taking my order, then moved on and ordered a sandwich, masala chai, and a drink, forgetting all about the dessert.
And then! That guy came back and brought me gulab jamun, saying it was homemade. He must’ve gone outside and bought it somewhere! I was honestly so touched — and they didn’t even add it to the bill. I was truly moved.
Later, I finished my meal and went to pay. The bill was around 500 rupees. I had some issues with online payment via QR code and didn’t have cash. The owner kindly said, “It’s okay, you can bring it tomorrow.” That was surprise number two — I was blown away by the kindness and simplicity.
And I forgot! I completely forgot to bring the money the next day, and then I left for Delhi, and after that flew back to my country.
Dear owner — please reach out to me on Instagram @yu_an21. I can transfer the money to your VISA card if you have one.
I still feel so bad. You treated me with so much kindness, and I forgot. I truly hope your business didn’t suffer...

Backyard Café isn’t just a café—it’s a whole vibe. Nestled near Chandpole, this hidden gem offers serene lake views, greenery all around, and a calmness that wraps around you the moment you enter. It’s the kind of place where you instinctively breathe deeper and smile wider.
I had their Backyard Special Pizza and pasta, paired with a perfectly chilled peach iced tea. Everything was packed with flavour and felt soulfully made. But what truly made the experience unforgettable was Gautam bhai, the owner. So warm, so welcoming—he genuinely makes you feel like you’ve walked into a friend’s home. That sense of care and comfort is rare, and it’s the heart of what makes this place so special.
