Moustache Udaipur – Budget Hostel in the Heart of the City During my recent work trip to Udaipur, I stayed at Moustache Hostel, Udaipur, and found it to be a conveniently located budget option—especially for travelers who want to explore the old city on foot. ⸻ 📍 Location The location is one of the biggest advantages here: • City Palace – ~200 meters away • Jagdish Mandir – ~200 meters away • Gangaur Ghat – ~50 meters away • Ambrai Ghat – ~400 meters away (across the lake, via a short walk) You’re right in the heart of Udaipur’s heritage zone, surrounded by cafes, rooftop restaurants, and souvenir shops. ⸻ 🛏 Rooms & Comfort I booked a 4-bed dormitory for around ₹500 per night. They also offer private rooms and couple rooms. Pros: • Clean bedsheets & decent pillows • Each bed has a small personal fan and a charging socket • Lockers available for storage Cons: • Mattress was not very comfortable for long stays • My dormitory did not have AC (which is unusual compared to other Moustache hostels). In July, the weather was fine without AC, but other seasons may require it. • Bathroom felt small, though functional. Towels are not provided unless you rent one for ₹50. ⸻ 🚫 Hostel Rules • No outside food or drinks allowed inside the property. ⸻ 🍽 Facilities & Hangout Spaces • Common Area: Good for hanging out with friends or meeting new travelers. • Rooftop Café: Offers a nice view of the city; a relaxing spot for coffee or a meal. • Games & Activities: Available on the upper floor for group fun. • Art & Vibes: Beautiful wall paintings and colorful décor inside the hostel. • Breakfast Buffet: Unlimited breakfast for ₹150 (chargeable) – I didn’t try it as I had an early bus, but it looked like a good option for a quick start to the day. ⸻ 💡 Overall Experience If you’re a group of friends or budget travelers looking to stay close to Udaipur’s main attractions, Moustache Udaipur is a convenient choice. However, for the price, I feel non-AC dormitories are slightly expensive compared to similar hostels that offer more comfort. ⭐ Rating: 3.8/5 – Great location and social vibe, but comfort and value for money could be improved.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Moustache Hostel in Udaipur, and it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I walked through the door, I felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere that sets this hostel apart. The staff at Moustache Hostel are simply outstanding. Their friendliness and eagerness to assist make you feel right at home. Whether you need local tips, directions, or just a friendly chat, they are always ready to help. Kudos to the team for their exceptional hospitality! The hostel itself is a unique blend of modern comfort and traditional charm. , the dormitories and private rooms are clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The common areas are vibrant and perfect for meeting fellow travellers and do not miss out the best rooftop cafe ATHENAS The rooftop terrace cafe, in particular, offers breathtaking views of Udaipur's skyline and the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. One of the highlights of my stay was the hostel's commitment to creating a community vibe. The nightly events and activities organized by the staff make it easy to connect with other guests. It's a fantastic way to share travel stories, make new friends, and experience the local culture. The location is another plus. Situated in the heart of Udaipur, Moustache Hostel is conveniently close to major attractions, making it easy to explore the city on foot. The staff can provide excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants and shops, ensuring you get a taste of the best Udaipur has to offer. Overall, Moustache Hostel in Udaipur is a stellar accommodation option. Whether you're a solo traveller, a group of friends, or a couple looking for a memorable stay, this hostel ticks all the boxes. I can't wait to return to Udaipur, and when I do, Moustache Hostel will be my first choice. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Moustache Hostel Udaipur: A Disappointing Experience While Moustache Hostel Udaipur's strategic location near the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, and Lake Pichola initially drew us in, our stay there quickly soured due to a series of unfortunate circumstances. Upon arrival, we were met with a surprising revelation: our 4-bed dorm, booked for 3 people, had been inexplicably assigned to an unknown stranger for a day. This unexpected intrusion not only violated our privacy but also left us feeling uncomfortable and uncertain. Such a disregard for our booking preferences was a significant red flag. The hostel's facilities were equally disappointing. The common washroom near the reception was in a deplorable state, with unclean surfaces and a strong unpleasant odor. The attached washroom in our room, while marginally better, was still far from satisfactory. These subpar sanitary conditions created an unpleasant and unsanitary environment. Despite the hostel's convenient location, the combination of poor management, privacy breaches, and inadequate facilities made our stay extremely unpleasant. It's unfortunate that many foreigners seem to be lured by the hostel's attractive online presence, only to be met with a stark contrast between the advertised experience and the reality. In conclusion, while Moustache Hostel Udaipur's location may be enticing, its shortcomings far outweigh any potential benefits. Travelers seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Udaipur would be well-advised to explore alternative accommodations that prioritize guest satisfaction and basic amenities.

Disappointing Stay "We were really excited about our stay, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The room was not clean, and the AC wasn’t working properly. The staff was unhelpful when we raised concerns. Won’t be coming back." Not Worth the Price "The resort looks beautiful in photos, but in reality, it was far from impressive. The rooms were outdated, and the food was bland. For the price we paid, we expected much better quality and service." Unpleasant Experience "Very disappointed with the overall service. We waited over an hour for check-in, and the staff wasn’t friendly at all. The bathroom wasn’t clean, and there were stains on the bed sheets. Will not recommend this place." Poor Customer Service "The resort has potential, but the customer service is awful. The front desk staff was rude, and we felt ignored during our entire stay. Plus, the amenities mentioned on the website weren’t available. Definitely not worth the money." Not Clean Enough "We were really looking forward to a relaxing stay, but the cleanliness was a huge issue. The room had a musty smell, and the bathroom had mold. For a supposedly 'luxury' hotel, this was unacceptable." Underwhelming Experience "The resort was quite underwhelming for the price we paid. The room was not properly maintained, and the food at the restaurant was overpriced and tasteless. There was no room service, and the pool was overcrowded. Very disappointing." Not a 5-Star Experience "We were expecting a 5-star experience based on the reviews, but it was far from it. The room was noisy, and the facilities were outdated. The staff seemed overwhelmed and didn’t provide any useful assistance. Definitely won't return." Uncomfortable Stay "Extremely uncomfortable stay. The bed was hard, the pillows were flat, and the air conditioning didn’t work properly. There were also insects in the room, and the service was slow. Not worth the money at all." Disorganized and Noisy "The resort was disorganized, and there was no communication between the staff. We had to wait for hours to check in, and the noise from nearby rooms kept us up at night. A very frustrating experience." Not Family-Friendly "We booked this resort for a family vacation, but it was not suitable for children. The pools were dirty, and the staff didn’t seem friendly towards families. Overall, the resort didn’t live up to the hype or the...

I stayed in the private superior room in Moustache Udaipur. Following review is therefore for the same: Positives: Great room: The room was spacious, the washroom was really big with great lights and ambience. Good location: It is right in the old city. So, a lot of tourist spots are nearby.

Negatives: No wifi: While we got the wifi password, there was no signal of wifi in our room and never once worked during our stay of two days. It had not been a major issue had the mobile internet worked but that too was very weak. No hot water: The hotel tells us to wait for sometime after turning on the tap to get hot water. However, even after waiting for 10s of mins, the water remained only slightly lukewarm to say, at best. Constant creaks from doors: The room we stayed in was constantly creaking throughout the night and remained a constant disturbance. Terrible Service: The service from the moustache was terrible. Even after informing reception to clean the room in the morning, it was in the same state when we came back in the evening. You can't ofcourse call them from your room because remember, no wifi, no signal. They refused to return the keycard security deposit during checkout saying that they had returned it already. Only after insisting that we didn't get any money, were we given it back. Also, for anyone who intends to stay here, remember this, while the service is terrible and they'll be of no help to you during your stay, as soon as you get near your check-out time, they'll call you and haul you out.

Let me put this here for the owners of this place: Customers know it in their bones if you don't care about them. Please understand that customers are not paying for a stay at your place. They are paying for the experience. So, anything and everything that makes this experience less than desirable for the customers will come back at you as a dent to your...
