It was very pleasant stay at Karponang. I travelled with my family, stayed there 2 nights in mid May (2019) . There are only about 8 rooms (if im correct), are spacious, spotlessly clean and tidy. Wash rooms are very clean & well maintained. We had an awesome experience at the dining, though its a fixed menu, but the quality of food is great, hot and yummy. The best part is, the Staff, so are well mannered and they take utmost care of the guests, thanks to Ms. Tashi. Few things, but not complaints, that the location of the hotel is slightly far from the shopping area, one may have to take a local taxi for the same . The hotel is about 20-30 mtrs from the main road, so there isn't any noise in the rooms. One has to climb stairs to go the rooms, elderly may prefer 1st floor. As almost anywhere in Gangtok, that there is no parking at the hotel. The view from the room (where we stayed - front facing) isnt that great, but we still loved the view of houses in front with early morning fog, the back side is all buildings. There is no need to worry about security... its all safe and good. Mrs. & Mr. Tashi are the owners of the place and are always there to attend to the guests. Its more like a Home Stay, than a Hotel. Thank you so much Ms. Tashi... This is Dr. Sam,...
Read moreSimply beautiful. This was our first trip to Sikkim and we had no idea about any hotels. By chance we saw bookings available for Hotel Karponang online. It appeared nice online, and I am glad to say the stay was truely great. The hotel is clean, bathroom is excellent, the hotel has all basic amneties (including free wi-fi), has a very friendly staff, great food at it's restaurant, is located at a decent place in Gangtok, and room reservation rates are reasonable. The owner, Ms. Tashi, is perhaps one of the most professional and caring hotel owners we have ever met. We had arranged for sight seeing and journey to/fro the railway station through the hotel itself, and from the moment we arrived Ms. Tashi was always in contact with us along the journey to the hotel, even till we boarded our return trip on our way home. Needless to say Sikkim is simply a God's place and the people there are one of the best our nation has. We will definitely be going back to Gangtok and staying at Hotel Karponang, there is still A LOT to see in Sikkim. Highly...
Read moreWe stayed for two days here, but it was surely the best hotel in our Sikkim tour. The location of the hotel is good, not in the very centre of the city, so no traffic but not very far away too so.. win win. The rooms are comfortable and service comforting. The owner Mr Ashish Gurung, one of the very few sikkimese running a hotel, is super friendly and very helpful. He not only made sure that we had our best stay there but also suggested local restaurants to try out and local icecreams to taste . Highly recommended hotel for stay.....
