Stayed in this hotel in August, 2016. This is an old hotel, so are the rooms. I stayed in room no. 108 - non-AC for Rs. 600/-. The toilet was of Indian style. For the same amount of money one can get a room with Western commode on the 2nd floor, but the rooms there are a bit smaller. The AC rooms were a bit spacious with daily rental of Rs. 1200/-. The room service boy was very active and courteous. The hotel serves food too which one can take in room s well as in the dining hall located in adjacent building connected with one stair. Food though not expensive, are also not of good quality. One can get better food just outside the hotel and in the vicinity. What is attractive is the location and low tariff. But there are plenty of hotels nearby, so one is not bereft of choice. One should see more options and then decide. Further, there was problem of mosquitoes even during day time which was taken care by management by burning mosquito coil and not by evaporator. As I had to stay for a single day, no regrets. The hotel is situated on Luxa-Godaulia road, Opp. PDR Mall, adjacent to Hotel Jamuna and...
Read moreWe ended up at Jyoti Guest House on recommendstion by another traveller and what a great recommendation it was. Vijay the owner, his brither, and his dad were all very positive and welcoming to us and provided us with a warm, clean, light double room withbshared bathroom for just 300 rupees a night. It was so good we decided to stay an extra few days! Though the place is tucked down the back of a network of alleyways, Jyoti Guest House provides easy access to the Pandey Ghat area which is filled with excellent cafes, restaurants, money exchangers and other helpful visitor amenities. Of particular note is the nearby Nice Restaurant, with great food and a great owner! Getting down to the riverfront is pretty straight forward from here as well. The only minor downside is that there is no hot shower in thd shared bathroom, though there is hot water from the tap plus a large bucket that is more than adequate. All in all an excellent place to stay if you're in Varanasi and looking for somewhere cheap without wanting to lose...
Read moreHotel Jyoti is a preferably located budget hotel with very basic amenities on offer. It is located at a walking distance from Gowdolia crossing(which leads to the ghats). The hotel is surrounded by many food outlets. There is also a Marwari Bhojnalaye located after a few buildings on the right. The hotel doesn't has a parking and aggranges for it in the parking lots of the malls near by(the prices of which are quite high). The rooms are basic with a cooler, a tv and a attached washroom. Hot water is available on demand. The most important of all was the sleep quality which wasn't satisfactory. The lights in the corridor were entering the room throught the upper windows on the side of the door, keeping the room lit even when the lights were off inside. Above all, the noise made by the hopping of the monkeys over the tin shades didn't allow us to sleep soundly. So, preferably take a room which is not on the right side...
