Hill Top Swiss Cottage — Hotel in Uttarakhand

You really cannot ask for a better value-for-money stay in Rishikesh. Surrounded by jungle, our room was neat and clean. The staff were marvelous, and the view was breathtaking. Up on the hill, far above the endless cadence of the vehicle horns, you can almost get an outer sense of the inner peace you're searching for when you come to Rishikesh. Nishan was managing the reception desk upon our late arrival (our train was 7 hours behind schedule). He immediately made us feel at home and we were soon regretting that we only booked for a few nights. Hill Top is perched on a handy assortment of restaurants, convenience shops, money changers and other accommodation. The brand new restaurant near reception has great food and they happily deliver to your room. There is a great affordable laundry service half-way down the hill, and an atmospheric hang-out called Nirvana hidden at the end of the same alley. Hill Top Swiss Cottage is a short, steep walk from the action of Rham Jula and Laksman Jula. If you are fit, or you are keen to get fit, walking is the best option. Lastly, there is a Yoga Teacher Training programme at Hill Top. The aspirant yogis we spoke to were quite enamoured with their instructor, and the yoga room on the roof of the building certainly has the very best view of any of the schools and ashrams in town. The drop-in yoga class at Hill Top is in a small hall with windows gazing into the deep green jungle. Before I explain about my stay I think I should share my first experience with HillTopSwiss Cottage Management. It was 2018, I was solo travelling to north India(Rishikesh) for the first time. Being a Southie, my Hindi knowledge was very limited at that time. I reached Rishikesh bus-stand at 9pm.It was pitch dark and raining. Finally I found some auto to reach HillTopSwiss cottage but I was not comfortable to travel alone from bus-stand to hotel. I called up Hotel owner Nishant ji and explained him the situation. He asked me to share my whats-app live location so that he can track my status also he assured me that he will come and pick me up if he find some discrepancy. Thankfully that night I reached hotel without any issue. By the time, I reached they made dinner ready for me. Two years later I decided to do solo travelling and the first thing that came into my mind is Rishikesh and Hilltop cottage. It was supposed to be a 2 weeks trip in Aug 2020 for Rishikesh but I ended up staying for more than 3 months.||The staff, the rooms, the view, the vibe everything about HillTopSwiss cottage makes you feel that you are at home. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!

Worst place I’ve ever stayed! And I’ve travelled the world and lived in many countries. I couldn’t trust the owner - many lies and problems with my room. It felt unsafe for solo female. Beware of Veer the owner, or so he calls himself. Also things he can knock or come to your room whenever he wants. We exchanged numbers about the noise but he was messaging me at 12:30 to say good night and he is going to bed. hours and hours after we spoke about the room. So unprofessional and creepy.

And wifi, It worked 10 mins a day.

It’s not that quiet here at all. You can hear a lot of noice in hallway and other rooms. Depends what room you get.

Deluxe room I booked but it had a water pump running every minute that was very very loud. Front deck doesn’t speak much for communication. No assistance- it’s like they understand but didn’t care. My first night I asked them about a loud noise I was hearing 5-6 times. I couldn’t sleep with the noise. I was downgraded it was horrible , bathrooms moldy and hallway stinks like cigarettes. I LEFT!

Be prepared to carry your bags up a hill. There are so many other quiet places in town. Just stay away from the main road.
