Hotel Anand Palace — Hotel in West Bengal

My (family / uncle's family ) were guests at 'Hotel Anand Palace' (5, Dr. S.M. Das Road ,Darjeeling) for 2 days (20.10.18 to 22.10.18) during our trip around the North Eastern Side of India for family vacation. We were highly recommended and we did trust on Mr.Rohit Gupta ,who had stayed there last week and it helped us make our final choice and decision. We felt confident that in choosing a hotel which came highly praised from our close friend was sure to be the vacation we were hoping for. We were assured to get all 4 rooms serially , but upon Check-In, we were told that due to an unexpected over booking, we had no rooms available as per serial wise and hence we were given rooms randomly. The rooms itself were really quite dirty and seemed to have been unused for quite some time; there was a constant damp and mould like smell in the room that gave my mother and other members headache after we checked - in . We complained and were assured that it would be taken care . The room service staffs were miserable as we had to call several times for drinking water and even the linens were dirty and were asked to changed but the housekeeping did not do so and said in return that due to shortage of linen we are not supposed to replace it with fresh one's. Most annoying was the behaviour of the staff as they were mis-behaving with our sister's and were disturbing them during midnight constantly by knocking their doors and by passing abusive and bad comments. This even continued the next day (21.10.18) during the noon time and when we approached to complaint about it , the Front desk personnel started arguing with us and refused to show the CCTV footage . This whole scenario was just speechless and we are not able to express more of it Finally , during Check-out time the bell boys and other staffs were too rude. They were not following our instructions while carrying our luggage , when we asked not to drag the bag they just threw our luggage the mid way and started abusing us. This shows that your hotel doesn't follow or take Hospitality as a real matter and pay respect to guests. The entire experience ruined our stay and we will never be going back to your hotel or recommending it to any of our friends.

This hotel is right beside the Big Bazaar, and right at the heart of Darjeeling town. Mal road and Darjeeling railstation are walking distance away. Being at the middle of the market, everything is very near. It deserves 5 star rating for its excellent location.

The hotel inside looks trendy, and well decorated. The staffs at the reception are well spoken and behaved very nicely. We were warmly welcomed.

Hotel has an elevator along with the staircases. It has its own restaurant.

Services were great as well. Be it ordering food from restaurant or a call for a hot drinking water, they were readily available.

Facilities include Room service, 24 hours hot water, geyser, power back up in cases of a power cut, WiFi, TV with DTH connection. Toiletries were provided in the room. There were arrangements for making a cup of tea.

Bedsheet, linens, towels were clean.

This is a couple friendly hotel. Unmarried couples are welcomed.

Negatives: Being surrounded by buildings, it has no view around. Room heater was not offered. One may have to ask for it separately. Food must be ordered early. One may not get dinner if ordering at 10 pm. No parking of their own. If bringing own car, must...

It was my second time visiting this very wonderful hotel with very good, clean n comfortable rooms which had made our trip to India much more amazing n unforgettable.
