Hotel Dreamland Darjeeling — Hotel in West Bengal

Summer Palace Hotel in Darjeeling is the ideal budget hotel. First of all, they offer accommodation and food at unbeatable prices. During my visit with my friends, I discovered that the hotel offered food and lodging together at a very reasonable price. We were unsure whether the hotel service and food quality would be good while staying there. We checked several hotels in the same area before coming to Summer Palace. Most of the hotels in the nearby area charged much higher prices and many did not even offer food. Summer Palace's price, at first, surprised us - damm cheap. Then we asked the manager to show us the rooms and the hotel services. However, after seeing the room and talking to the manager, we felt confident that we could try it out. Our financial budget was very tight, and it was a full season for Darjeeling. In any case, we decided to stay there. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the food was excellent. Non-vegetarian meal three times. The experience was more than satisfactory for us. Unbelievably the room was very nice, with wood-crafted walls and a large ground floor. From its balcony, the room offers a magnificent Kanchanjangha view. Stunned, we were. Terrible unwelcoming behavior right at the time of entry. Firstly, there was no luggage pickup for me from the mentioned point. I had to drag my bags alone and on the last step before entry, these people asked me if they should help me carry my luggage. Quite insulting. I denied and took my luggages all the way to my room. We booked a non-view room on 5th floor from Kolkata office. Here the receptionist did not honor the booking. He said we can offer a room in a different floor. His behavior was as if we have been here by chance and we have asked for rooms for free.

I would not recommend this hotel to peace loving people. Choose Hotel Dolphin which is much better located and similarly priced.

The geo location is also incorrect. Plus they say they take card but they will always find an excuse not to accept cards. The kolkata office phone number remains inaccessible as of now so that I cannot call back and resolve the issue.

It is true to say that Summer Palace Hotel exceeded my expectations. Just one thousand rupees bought me three meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the same budget, they offer free services like WiFi, geysers, telecommunications, laundry, and pick-up from the bus station. I was amazed at the level of service they provide within my budget.
