Nestled near the Mall in the hill station, Pure Veg Delight may not seem like the obvious choice for a meal, but it truly stands out as the best restaurant I've ever experienced. Despite the area's limited vegetarian options, this gem serves delicious dishes that are worth every moment spent here. We visited for dinner and ordered a variety of items, starting with the Manchow Soup, which was rich and flavorful. The highlight, however, was the Paneer Tikka—without a doubt, the best I've ever had. Perfectly grilled and bursting with flavor, it was a true delight. The Paneer Kulcha was soft and paired perfectly with the dishes, while the Kofta was a hearty and satisfying addition to the meal. How I can skip to mention that the price according to the quality as well as quantity is very average. I searched for the best restaurants in Darjeeling and Grains came to the first and without a second thought we went there. We had difficulty finding the restaurant so one suggestion of mine was that they should add a direction board at the mall. Grains exceeded my expectations, offering an exceptional dining experience in a location where vegetarian options are scarce. If you find yourself in the area, do not miss the chance to indulge in their remarkable menu! And I am suggesting the restaurant being a non...
Read moreI recently visited here during my visit to Darjeeling. Pros- Staff's very nice , it was pouring heavily in night when we got there, manager guided us to the property over the call and asked for feedback 2-3 times with regard to food. I must say it's nicely tucked away in the woods, have very nice and cosy interiors with photos of movies , mostly shot in and around darjeeling. In terms of food we ordered various dishes, for vegetarian like us it's a sigh of relief in darjeeling, where non veg food overpowers the vegetarian food. I must say Malai kofta was exceptional(filling, creamy texture, soft and flavourful) yellow daal, pulao, Naan and tandoori roti were also fresh and enjoyable, kadhai paneer was okayish. As we were in mountain, so we also ordered momos that were freshly prepared and tasted good. Cons- Veg Momos were exorbitantly priced(we paid 500 for the two plates, basically for 16 momos) Service is rather slow, I understand the value of freshly prepared meal but they certainly can work upon that. Taxes are in tune of 18% , that was bit of a spoiler.
All in all I would definitely recommend this place, just make sure you ask the price before ordering if its not mentioned...
Read moreThis was our 2nd Grains location to dine with during the trip. For purposes of this review I will completely differentiate and focus solely on this location. In reverse order of the above scoring. Atmosphere should lose a star because the location is cold. I personally felt the need to wear a coat while dining for breakfast. So that is a very personal thing. With that aside the view over the valley makes up for that potential loss.
Now onto the important parts food and service.
Food: excellent and fresh. Breakfast over 2 days had a variety including a different local dish each day. (Try the momos). Food was tasty and well displayed. Dinner is decent with a variety of pure veg selections. The prices were reasonable and allowed me to order a few different things to see what I liked.
Service: the staff was exceptional and polite. Making sure everything was just perfect. The two staff members I would compliment for breakfast were Marina Karina and Pratiksha who were very attentive and meticulousl. Many restaurants could learn from their level of care and...
