Worst place I've ever stepped in. My and my 7 other friends booked rooms here and even kept our luggage in the rooms. When we went to submit id proofs a man( doesn't deserve to be called one) in the rudest possible way told us there should be no noise in the rooms. Even when I said that we will just play music in speaker till 9( their bar which in in top floor had been playing loud music from morning till night) he snatched the keys out of our hands and asked us to leave. All these because my friends belongs to a certain state and community. My friends were devastated with the racism which they never faced anywhere else. We are lodging complaints on the ground of racism on this hotel to the ministry of tourism and consumer forum. Seperate FIR will be lodged against the person who asked my friends to leave.

We already kept our luggage and 4 of my friends already moved to the rooms after the price was discussed. And by harassing you do you mean bargaining? You run a hotel right? If you don't have the basic understanding of harassment and bargaining, how did you even acquire lisence for hospility. You 8 people were harrasing your one receptionist while 5 where downstairs already settled with luggage tucked in cupboards. And the keys were snatched by our hand and your 12 cc cams must have that so keep it handy. Cuz I will go to lengths to get the racist people that is making the beautiful place disgusting, shut down. And you told to keep music down at 11? You said there can't be a single noise and when I asked till what time you didn't even repond and said we will jot give you rooms. All because my friends were from certain state and talked certain language. Please keep your cc TV footage ready as you'll need...
Read moreI love visiting this restaurant mostly because of the views one can enjoy while eating and to taste authentic Nepali Food.
I have become a regular here of late to have a nice meal with my friends and co-travellers and I love to sit outside to take in the full mountain vibes.
I have been here both for lunch and dinner and I can't ever stop raving out the night time mountain views from the restaurant if you are lucky enough to get a clear weather.
Most other restaurants in Darjeeling offering good food and views charge a fortune but Lion Gate's USP is that it offers the same without robbing you blind.
The staff has always been nice and courteous to me and I don't remember them ever without a smile on their faces. I have seen them to be quite patient with the not-so-friendly diners too.
I love the ambience of Lion Gate and it has become a must visit for me whenever I am in...
Read moreNew Lion Gate Restaurant is located at C R Das Road right below Chowrasta near Cafe Coffee Day. My review is not for the hotel as I didn't stay there but rather for the restaurant.
I visited this place twice recently. Had heard a lot about this place from friends but after being here for two times, I didn't quite like this place. Primarily because after repeadtly requesting the staff to reduce the volume, they didn't bother to turn it down. We had difficulties to talk to each other as the music being played were too loud.
Management should understand that people choose to visit places like this for few drinks and food and good conversation and enjoy the view and not to listen to the boring hip hop songs. I don't care about others perspective but being from the same hometown I felt that it's too overhyped and expensive. Starters prices were okay but drinks were...
