I have visited many places and stayed in many homestay but this experience was a nightmare for me and my family. Location was way down the hill but more importantly no mode of communication. You will get a cab only after you walk 15 minutes up the hill, which was terrible. There were no food available at the homestay as we were informed that the owners relative was getting married and there was no one to prepare food. Even we had to do our dishes. We had to bring food from outside and by the time we had it, it was cold as they didn’t even provide a microwave. Even if you order by Zomato, you have to use a different address where the delivery guy will come and deliver and make sure you order atleast 90 minutes before you intend to eat. They didn’t let us use even the Kitchen. We brought breakfast stuff to prepare ourselves but the owner didn’t even take the effort to help us and open the kitchen. The drawing room had a broken window and the wind was gushing inside making it difficult for us to stay in that room. One of our room was stinking and we had to use perfumes every now and then. We also went with our pet, initially he didn’t allow us with the pet even though we texted him that we are coming with a pet. Even he has few pet dogs but poor soul were kept outside in this chilling cold weather and every night two dogs always knocked the door trying to come in. When we tried to confront the owner he was rude and started to yell. He might have had some personal commitments but he should not have taken the booking in that case or may have arranged for someone who can provide us atleast the basic services.Overall the experience was terrible. We won’t recommend this place to anyone and even would request MMT to remove this place because next time I wont book any hotels and homestays based on MMT ratings as we really had a tough time. We would have chosen a different place but since we paid the entire amount before hand and the owner was not willing to refund the amount we had to stay in this property and experience the some worst days...
Read moreWe went there on the 27th of December, 2023. The property is picturesque. It actually came to me as a surprise that such a pretty place actually exists in Darjeeling away from the hustle and bustle of the main town and the congested streets! It actually is not that away from the main town , pretty close to chawk bazar . we booked this place at the very last moment got our accommodation over there in peak season. There are plenty of negative reviews about its location but trust me, you need to go there once and see it for yourself. The caretaker of the property, Mr. Andrew’s warmth and hospitality won our hearts. The cottages and rooms in this property are all old but extremely well maintained. They have electric kettle, geyser that works 24*7 and a strong wifi. All the cottages are wooden, gives you a British era colonial vibe. There are 5-6 dogs ( pomerians and other breeds) , extremely adorable following you wherever you go in the property. Best part of this homestay is the magnificent view of the town, the mountains and the delectable and sumptuous meals. They don’t provide lunch though, but this place is accessible on Zomato, one can easily place online orders. The place is well connected to the city and Mr. Andrew quickly arranges for cabs whenever needed. I stayed for just one night and would definitely like to go back there for a longer and peaceful stay. I’ll fondly remember the morning i woke up there. It was magical….swaying to 80-90’s English classics, sipping on my morning tea while soaking in the...
Read moreHorrible experience, not at all easily accessible, no basic amenities provided, really bad service.
I recently stayed at pradhan cottage and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.
Upon arrival, I was shocked to find that several basic amenities advertised were missing. There was no heater, no Wi-Fi, and even simple essentials like clean towels and toiletries were not provided.
Additionally, the location of the homestay was incredibly inconvenient. It was difficult to access, tucked away in a remote area with poor signage. This lack of accessibility made it frustrating to come and go, especially for travelers relying on public transportation. We had to climb a steep hill and no taxi drivers agreed to go.
Upon enquiring about heater in the room(since it was extremely cold), we were told there were no heaters and that we had to deal with the cold by ourselves. Also, though it is mentioned that food would be provided at an additional cost, we were denied that because we were the only ones asking about dinner. Also, the roof on one of the delux rooms was broken hence the room was extremely cold.
Overall, I would not recommend to anyone seeking a comfortable and convenient accommodation option. The lack of basic amenities and difficult accessibility greatly detracted from the...
