The Revolver is one of the best budget hotel in Darjeeling which have view rooms. Whenever I'm in Darjeeling, I prefer to stay at Revolver. It’s also one of the fewer hotels in Darjeeling which doesn’t change their tariff depending on the season. The tariff at The Revolver is the same throughout the year. Located just within walkable distance from Mall (10-15 mins), The Revolver is your best bet if you are looking for a hotel within Rs. 1500/- at prime location. However, due to their immense popularity, finding a room at The Revolver is almost next to impossible if you don’t book well in advance!
If you are wondering about the odd naming, the hotel was named after the album of a famous band – The Beatles. They have total 5 rooms named after the band members i.e. John, George, Paul, Ringo & Brian! Recently they have also opened up a new Family Four Bedded room named Prudence!
However, don’t let the Budget Hotel tag misguide you. The rooms, washrooms and the entire hotel premises are very clean and well maintained. The Revolver adheres to a lot of western B&B cultures. Like each door is equipped with a security lock box and you are informed about the code upon check-in. Definitely, they keep changing the code frequently for security purpose! So if you want your room to clean up, just hang the tag and put your room key inside the lockbox and you’ll find it clean upon your return! This lock mechanism also helps you to stay outside till late night as long as you want without worrying about hotel's main gate being closed within stipulated time.
The rooms are equipped with basic toiletries (Towel, Soap, Shampoo, Comb, Earbuds etc.), an emergency medical-kit with sanitary napkins (the rarest thing to find in India), and some snacks (like Munch, Lays, Salted Peanuts etc.). Even 3* hotels fails to provide you these complimentaries. The floor in the washroom is equipped with bathroom-mat to avoid any accidents.
And believe me, these are the various small reasons why I’m impressed with The Revolver! Unlike lots of other major hotels in Darjeeling, The Revolver doesn’t switch off Geyser as per their fixed timings. So you can get hot water 24×7! However, they expect you to use it responsibly!
The food at the in-house restaurant is awesome and finger-licking. Don’t forget to try the various platters especially the Yahako and Naga Platter! You should also try Pancakes, Vietnamese Coffee and...
Read moreRevolver is a very humble two story place of stay in the queen of hills. It is delicately decorated and elegantly maintained. It is all over The Beatles themed, which also makes it all the more appealing to people who are fond of the famous English Rock Band. Quietly located above Darjeeling Railway station, on Gandhi Road, it is just 6-8 minutes away from the Mall.
One of the best things about this place is their food and hospitality. All the staffs are cordial and warm. To talk about the foods, it is more that wow! People who are enamoured by delicacies of Keventer's, Kunga, and Sholo Aana etc must give it a try. I wonder why Revolver hasn't had it's name at par with these popular eateries. Sorry, I couldn't post all the photographs. They have their own timings of prior order of foods, you have to check that out. One can't just walk in and order for foods. Their ph number is available on the internet. It is a strong suggestion that their foods must be tasted in course of Darjeeling-stay.
However, i feel the authorities should improve in two aspects. One, WiFi and two, television. I found the WiFi connection very poor, not sure if that is usual. The television is there but doesn't have anything except the songs and videos of the Beatles to entertain you. I understand that television may not be a priority for many but since Darjeeling almost goes to a close by 8-9 in the evening and since there is nothing much to do in the cold outside, one may wish to take recourse to the idiot box!
Otherwise, everything is so well organized and run. It has fantastic views of the mountains from the room itself. The hot water and bed warmer work absolutely fine. The room security system is quite fascinating as well. There are five rooms; only three rooms have wonderful mountain view from the rooms themselves. I feel those rooms are more prioritised. I stayed in Paul and i feel it is probably the best room to stay. It cost me only 1400+ GST.
I strongly recommend this humble accomodation to anyone and everyone looking for a clean, delicate, standard, pocket-friendly and peaceful stay...
Read moreThis little B&B in Darjeeling is themed on The Beatles, for they love the band and everything about them. You can even say that it’s their tribute to the legendary band. It’s a small B&B with 5 rooms, named after the band members – John, Paul, George, Ringo and Brian. Apart from this they also have a suite called- Prudence. Out of these rooms ( George and Ringo offer the Kanchenjunga View)
The Owners Vikash and Asnela Pradhan have thoughtfully decorated Revolver, incorporating different pictures, posters, books and quirky elements. We were amazed when we found out that the in-room TV had its own The Beatles channel as well. The room was small but cozy and comfortable. They do not boast luxury and they are upfront about it. It’s a reasonable stay and definitely more value for the money you pay. The best thing about it was the bed was with heated sheets. Just what you need in Darjeeling weather. They had made a small welcome basket which had basic toiletries and some snacks. They had also provided each room with a first aid kit (which included a sanitary pad as well)
The B&B has a common lounge area which has a common fridge and some other common utilities. Their restaurant is known for the Naga Cuisine apart from the local delicacies. You have to place an order in advance though. We could not enjoy a meal here as we were on the go during our stay but I have read some really great reviews. Revolver is located just a few minutes away from Mall road, making it very convenient to get to the popular spots. Pros: Slightly away from the noisy area yet a few minutes walk. Cons: The Rrom’s curtains and bedsheets could use some improvement for...
